Well, first you start spelling "break-in." Then you just stay off the throttle a little bit. You can run your car, but just don't use full thottle. You're actually ok to venture a little bit into VTEC (above 6,000) but don't go too heavy on the throttle when you do. In fact, its probably a good idea to mostly stay out of VTEC for the 600 mile break-in period.
Also, try and go easy on the brakes (yes, thats spelled right) and the clutch. Breaking in these is actually more important, or at least easier to screw up than the engine. Basically no really hard braking, panic style stops, unless you REALLY need to stop. And just try and do a bit of rev matching to make shifting easy on the clutch.

I dont follow normal procedures. I romp on that accelerator and let the tires spin. The hell with babying that engine. Drive it like you stole it. Then switch to synthetic oil (Mobil 1 only) and let her loosen up a bit more.

Honda knows best, so don't listen to any of that "hard break-in" philosophy junk. Heed the manual: easy acceleration, easy braking, easy cornering, easy shifting, no VTEC-ing. If you love your car enough to spend the money, switch to synthetic first oil change and synthetic tranny fluid around 10-15k miles.
Remember, you're not just breaking in the engine, but the brakes, clutch, and tires as well.

I keep mine below 3200rpm for the first 400miles then went to 4000k for the last 600miles. Couple hard smacks on accident. Didnt drive a clutch for near 5 years before that. I follow the older style 1k mile brake in for all around tires I didnt care about there junk on the X models hehe.

It depends on how much will power you have.... when I put my new clutch and flywheel in my CRX I shifted at 2,500 RPM for 800 miles... Now my CRX is almost 17 years old, runs like a Honda should. I always let it warm up before going anywhere, I don't care how late I am for anything, nothing is more important to me than my ride (my 3rd nut), Never seen anything but Mobil 1 since I bought it.. I've never bought a new car, but if I were you, I would'nt put it into VTEC at all for 2,000 miles, or a turbocharged car for that matter. And Before anything go get some magnetic drain plugs for oil and tranny, these will catch metal shavings. people will tell you you need them on old cars. NOT TRUE. the first 10,000 miles you WILL. next time you change your oil you'll see what I mean. Hope this helps, and congratulations on your new Honda!!
