Higher pressure trunk "springs" for new Accord?    (Score: 1, Normal) 09-15-2006 22:18

I noticed that when you pop the trunk via the remote, the trunk only cracks open slightly unlike some domestic cars where the trunk conveniently opens almost all the way so you don't need to have a free hand to open it.
Aren't there heavy duty trunk springs included with the trunk spoiler kits? If you install those without installing the spoiler, wouldn't that make the trunk pop open with more force?

Has anyone tried that or is there an aftermarket replacement??

i dunno about "springs" but you could get some dampers so when you remotely pop the trunk they'l lift it up for you.

Yes the difference in force from the standard springs to the ones that come with the spoiler is a BIG difference. I put the springs on after the spoiler was installed, the trunk would literally SLAM down if you let go anywhere. Even as little as a few inches. Also it would stay open but the slightest wind would send the trunk slamming down on you. I put the ones that came with the OEM spoiler on and it made a huge difference. Also you can ajust the ones you have slightly by moving them where they mount. See the torsion spring just below the speaker, there is another notch on the mount where you can move it to to lessen or increase the force of the spring, (not sure which way is which) hope this helps.
