HI all,
My Acura TL has given me many problems over the last couple of years, but let me tell you guys about this and get some ideas.
For the last month or so my gas mileage has gone from a pretty consistant 21mpg to 17mpg. I use a K&N air filter, so I recharged it and changed the oil, and no go. Still the same crappy gas milage. The only thing that has changed as far as how it drives is the hesitation or shimmy I get at 25mph 1500rpms(Before oil change). I heard of that before but at 50mph? Could these be related? I will take it in to Acura next week, but if they have no codes they don't know what to do, so I'm crossing my fingers. I mean the last time I had an issue with my stereo they gave my car to a technician with a self proclaimed hearing problem. That is the type of thing that I have to deal with from Acura.
I'm afriad that my TL is going to crap out on me after 50k. I'm at 46k right now. I have owned many Honda cars, but I'm looking to dump this TL soon, maybe to get a Ridgeline.(Tows better than a TL)
Anybody have an idea of what can cause this?
Thanks!!!!

Could be a myriad of things having to do with the fuel or ignition system one thing I'd check right away is the oxygen sensor. Just take it in to have its codes checked.

Thanks for this posting...I showed it to my wife to explain why I always take my cars to the dealer and never do service on my own or mods at all. 2006 TLMT 90,000 miles, no issues at all to date and a 2003 RSXtypeS 45,000 miles 1 new battery from letting it drain out one winter while it stayed in the garage.
Seriously, your towing with a TL????

If you recently had an oil change having too much oil in the engine takes it's toll on fuel economy and performance. Have you checked the oil level (when cold).

During the winter, the fuel blend is changed and can produce lower miles per gallon..............my observations show a slight reduction.
