Anyone have or have used a Honda Generator? I'm looking into getting one and would like some input on Honda's models.

What sort of information are you looking for? I have played around with a few of them and I was very impressed by how quiet and smooth running they are. They are also relatively light in weight and very easy to start.

We own a Honda EU3000is Generator and we absolutely love it. We use it to power/charge our camper during the deer hunting season. It is super quiet and starts up like a charm, even when it's real cold out in winter. Honda Generators and super quiet and run great, you can't go wrong on 'em.

I will say this: When it comes to power equipment there's Honda at the top, then there's the rest.

Honda has a well-deserved reputation when it comes to engines, be it motorcycle engines, small power equipment engines, outboard marine engines or car engines, and this reputation applies to their power equipment.

Honda engines are usually among the most (if not the most) fuel efficient, environmentally friendly and reliable to boot. Usually a bit more expensive than the competition but well worth the money.

In a word: if you can afford it, buy a Honda. You won't regret it!

I don't know where to start extolling their virtues -- everything giltibo said is spot on!

I've used an EB3000c for the past two years during our all-too-common hurricanes and it performed amazingly, powering two refrigerator/freezers and some fluorescent lights for over 9 hours on a single 2.2(?) gallon tank of gas.

This particular model uses a cycloconverter to generate AC power (rather than an alternator) so it's a lot less bulky and lighter than other models as well.

To reiterate, if you can swing the extra money, buy a Honda. It's certainly money well spent.

We have about 5 of the 5000w, and 5600w Honda's on our comercial job site and they take a beating every day. We are in Hawaii on Oahu, on this part of the island it averages arround 80 to 100 all year, been over 90 for the past few months. THey run all day 8 to 10 hours and the only thing in the aproximatly 2 years since we bought them that we have had to replace has been the starter pull cords. We also just bough a small 2000w honda for use in tight places and that thing is nearly silet, and very light, only 46 lbs. Buy Honda its the only way to go. Also Wacker Genorators use Honda engines, so if you can find a better deal on those they tend to be the larger size ones but they will last you forever as well.

The EU series is very nice, very quiet, light and have built in inverters which allow you run electronics off them.

But, of course, I recommend the Type R upgrade. It will really pump out those watts.

I think Jeff has a Honda HRR216VXA Type R with a tuned intake manifold. That think sucks grass like a Cheech and Chong groupie. ;-)
