What is a good wheel cleaner to use? I have aftermarket rims (OZ, painted silver), not sure if that would make a difference.

I've seen Meguir's, but wasn't sure if it works well. Should I use cleaner, or just wax my wheels?

Thanks for the advice/help.

I suggest a wheel cleaner. The stuff that collects on wheels (ie brake dust) mostly needs a more aggressive product than car wash soap.

As you mentioned Meguiars is a good start. Just make sure you buy a product that is compatible with your type of wheels. Such as don’t use chrome wheel cleaner on alloy wheels. If you are unsure of a product, just call the Meguiars techs, they are really knowledgeable and give good recommendations on their products. If you are lucky, they may send you a sample. They sent me a 32 oz bottle of wheel cleaner for free.

Keep in mind most wheels have final clear coat. Perhaps a few more coats than your body, but clear coat nonetheless. So I would (actually do) used a slightly stronger car soap concentration and save the "more aggressive" stuff for the stuff that just will not come out. Since wheels tend to buildt up brake dust which DOES scratch, I would use separate wheel only implements when doing the wheels.

I use a wheel only brush and car wash soap now, but dust/dirt collects pretty readily on my multi-spoke wheels and it is not easy to remove. I was hoping by waxing my wheels and using a cleaner, there would be an easier "no touch" method of cleaning my wheels.

Use engine degreaser and that wheel brush. should work well. and it doesnt not deteriorate the " clear coat " that some rims have.

With a white no lint towel dunked in mildly soapy water, clean and rinse, then dry with a micro fiber towel (whatever?!) Repeat process three more times: wash car. Apply tire dressing after.

depends on how dirty they are. Some cars I have to only do it 1 time. Others it takes 2 or 3 times or even the need to lightly spray wheel acid on them .. But I would not suggest using wheel acid on your rims . You really should only use them on chrome rims.
