hey, i bought my S used from a Ford dealer, who messed up my front left license plate fasteners by putting sheetmetal screws in them. the fasteners are now loose and i think the only way to get to them is by taking off the front bumper (access is restricted by various other components while the bumper is on).

any ideas on how to get the license plate plug in?
i've tried adhesives but it's too cold here right now for them to work. they can be pulled out and brought to where they're supposed to be set, but i can't do that and put the plug in at the same time.
any help is GREATLY appreciated.

I added these to my S2000, now sold. I believe there is(was?) a threaded piece behind the holes and the plugs had a thread like flange that grabbed as they were pushed in. I also remember that the threaded backer was loosely glued on, maybe yours is gone or rattling around up front somewhere?

the thread is there, it's just that it's too loose to put in the plugs, and there's no way to hold it firm so that i can put them in

Had this problem once. What i ddid was i got a screw and inserted it in one end and plugged the plastic cover in with the exposed side. This gave it something to grip on so i could remove the screw then insert the second clip into the other side. I hope i dont sound too confusing.
