I'm considering applying the clear protection film. I'm tired of all the road debris and paint chips from driving down the road.
- Does anyone have any opinions/advice regarding the 3M Paint Protection film? Is this the best one or is there something better?
- Has anyone installed it on their S2K?
- Does it really protect against chips and nicks?
- How much does a complete kit cost for front bumper, mirrors, hood, and headlights?
- Anyone know of a place in south Florida that sells/installs it?
- Can I install it myself or should I have the professionals install it?
All your advice/opinions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I put the transparent 3M bra on my car when it was new. It's definitely helped with nics and works well. I'd do it again, and I'd have a pro install it because it's tough to work with.

Thanks for your advice. How long have you had it on? Does it fade? What if you need to remove it? Will it harm the paint?

I've had it since the car was new in Aug 2003. My installer explained that it's like a big tough plastic decal, so removing it is a matter of wetting it down again and peeling it off. It hasn't faded yet, but then I rarely park in the California sun. I don't really know if it will damage the paint, but I don't think it'd be any worse than leaving it exposed.

Thanks for your input. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for it? What is an average price?
Did you get the full coverage on the front bumber, hood, mirrors, etc? I checked out the 3M website and there are difference applications for different areas of the front car. Man it's expensive.

I drove an '01 S-2000 for 3 years (32,000 miles), and during this period I sustained about a dozen significant rock chips on the front bumper/dam and even the mirrors. I traded my '01 for an '04, and I paid $345 to have the 3M film installed one year ago. It covers the front bumper, headlights, and mirrors, and I have ZERO dings after 13,000 miles. WooHoo !! The film is nearly invisible, and in my opinion, a necessity for maintaining the apparance of my S-2000. Sincerely, ~David.

Thanks David for your post. I'm highly considering on having it applied to my car. I have an '04 also and already have minor chips in the front. I've seen it on the Lotus Elise and it barely visibly.
Thanks again - Henry
