IMO.
But, who would buy one over a Civic for the price? I wouldn't.

Some people like leather and the other few luxury touches the RSX offers.
The RSX is supposed to be going the way of the do-do soon anyway, so it won't be an issue.

I disagree...the new Si is much better...but my forum name isn't RSX either...LOL!

I disagree as well. The Si is like nothing else on the market with the steep windshield and "crouching" position if you will. i really love what Honda did with this. but then again i have already ordered the Si so i guess im a lil bias. haha

Yeah I think RSX maybe be a little biased. IMO The way the SI looks is much better, not that the RSX is bad... but I think they look better in person anyway though.

I think you have a slight bias. :)
my wife has a modified 02 RSX-S. I really like the look. But this Si is pretty nice as well.

To me the Integra(RSX) is definitely better looking than this Civic, call me bias or whatever, but I just don't particularly care for the looks, it could be because it is a coupe, if it was a proper Civic in 3 door hatch variation, then I may have a different opinion.

I love those that hold that opinion.
Like me, you should have BOUGHT the Si when it was in the 3 door hatch configuration so Honda would have made another one for the US.

I agree! I would have definitely gone for an hatch or a fastback design! Again, I think coupes are only good as second car since nothing can be caried in... But, not only for that, I think an hatch as the definitive sporty spirit we loved form our old civics. And, as for RSX and it's fastback, simply wow! I remember thinking Ferrari Modena when I was following a red model...
I followed an 'o6 coupe yesterday... Nothing came to mind. Also, I'm a bit disturbed that one can own a cvic with about 10 grand in the price range. I strongly prefered the SiR idea, alone in it's almost perfect world (if only it had 200 hp...) When you see it, you don't have to wonder if it's an Si or not... As a mather of fact many Si owner will be disapointed when they meet with someone with a lesser model but with a better body kit!!! That's bad man!

RSX type S owners can think the same thing about their car and a base RSX. They have the better engine and nicer interior, but someone can pull up beside them with a lesser model and it looks the same to someone else who doesnt know any better.
I like the head lights on the RSX better. The civics remind me too much like a Saturn's

i'm not quite sure why you think it's better that the rsx reminds you of a modena. i mean, so what if the new si doesn't remind you of a luxury sports car that costs 10 times more? it's a great car that has excellent performance and a unique design.
i'm going to get the si in dec. if i pull up next to a standard coupe w/ some crazy bodykit that looks like it's faster than it really is, i'm just going to laugh at how worthless that poser is and then burn them at the light.

why?
I think a lot of people place importance in the wrong place. So what if the EX looks similar? I don't car. The EX doesn't have the engine, tranny, LSD, or the suspension. So what if it looks the same?
So much importance is placed in the completely worng things.
And those that say "oh if it was a hatch". Did you buy one when it WAS hatch? Obviously most people don't prefer hatches, otherwise Honda would have brought out another hatch.

It's all personal opinion anyway. Put them both on the track and see which performs better.

No...that's a good thing. Nothing is more fun than smoking "lesser" Civics with body kits...nothing.

I'll admit, I prefer the RSX body a little better, but I also appreciate the beauty of the SI, which is more than skin deep.

My issue is not about which looks better...they both are very distinctive attractive cars to my eye which is what matters to me. My disappointment is the weight. The Si is just plain FAT, I have a 91 Si and I just love how light and nimble it is. I understand that a lot has changed in the automoble scene in 15 years but 2900 lbs just doesn't do it for me...it's getting to be another Accord IMO.

The weight I don't like...I'm used to driving a gutted CRX. I also wish it was a hatch back, could have even been like the RSX, just so much more practical when throwing stuff in the back. again i'm used to my CRX.
the looks of the new civic coup are top notch though, i love it.

Personally, I don't see how that matters. Do you care about the performance, or about what people think when they see you in the car? Given the choice, I'd much rather have a sleeper car that doesn't attract special attention. And I think you know what kind of attention I speak of...

Don't worry. I'm currently working with Accolade designs on designing a better body kit for the 06 Civics... ;) hehe...

I think we all agree that the Si is one hell of a car. Also, if you look at my name, you may understand that I'm aproud owner of an '04 SiR, which is a hatch. What I meant was:
If I own a splendid super car, I wish that, since I'm not always racing, it looked a bit apart from the usual crowd, personal taste, that's all. If you like a sleeper that cost 10 grand more than you neighbor's and that it has the same look, good for you. But again, I'd rather have something a bit distinctive, that's all.
As for the hatch not selling, you should remember that Honda stoped selling hatches just after they introduced coupes... Of course, people went crazy over those nice coupes. But then, they were the first from honda! The only way to know if I'm right or wrong would have been if honda had kept an hatch in production. In my part of the world, hatches are really popular.Much more than coupes... But again, it's all about personnal tastes. My girlfriend had a CX civic 2000 and she decided to go for a 5 door elantra because of the back. She's always been a honda fan (her civic felt like it was new...) But she really disliked the last coupe...
I might be stupid like some people that answered my thread seemed to imply, but i'm the kind that likes things to be out of the croud. I'm really diseapointed when, in a parking lot I see cars that looks like mine (wich never happens, of course!) I use to have a '01 Corolla... Man, they were everywhere! It seemed that parking lot were made for those toyotas! Also, that car made me remember I prefered hatches!!!
By the way, even with a very BRIGHT car, you can still avoid being pulled over, just drive intelligently!!! Funny thing, I have not been pulled over yet in my different sporty civic SiR hatch, but, In my Corolla I had three tickets over a four year period... A four door boring sedan...

FF, I think this is the first post of yours that I agree with. Sleeper is the way to go!

one thing that no one has mentioned about distinguishing the SI and other civic models are those stupid DOHC badges on the side of the car. Not to mention the spoiler is different.
It is nice having a car that doesnt attract alot of attention. And i too cant wait to pull up beside some ricer in their pimped out EX and just look over and smile at them.
