Since Takeo Fukui commented that a V8 is a possibility, first appearing in the Honda Legend/Acura RL, I wonder if the next RL will have to be RWD, to achive a sporty weight balance and handling characteristics that are competitive to the rest of the segment.
If they don't go RWD, then the V8 will have to be placed transversely, (like Volvo SUV, but that's a SUV, not a sports sedan) and that bodes ill for the statis weight distribution. If they do have to RWD, will they use an all exclusive chassis? I hope they do, this will cure the two main drawbacks (IMHO ofcourse) I feel are in the current RL.
If they go the other route to power, i.e: IMA with electric engines powerring the rear wheels then the Accord platform (modified from the 8th gen Accord) will probably be carried over, which may or may not be a good thing.
Any thoughts on this?

I also hope to see the V-8 in the RL. Preferably with VCM. I think that they could possibly fit the V-8 into the current RL. They would have to redesigh the way the tranny and SH-AWD system is setup though (current V-6 is transverse). Mugen did a V-8 RWD RL with a V-8 in it a while ago. If they can do it, I am sure Acura could figure out a way. They could also lengthen the RL (which I think it needs. The TL is just about as big in the rear seat). This would help with the weight distribution as well. By doing this, they would also make room for a 3.5 liter SH-AWD TL Type-S! I just hope this all comes sooner than later, but knowing Honda, they will take their time.

I dont think the RL will be RWD but the TL could possibly be. A V8 with all wheel drive seems good to me for the RL but the TL should be rear drive if it hopes to compete in the midsize luxary segment.

Acura is going twoards AWD or SH-AWD in all their models. I doubt that you will see a RWD TL.
