I realize that I'm somewhat nuts doing this comparison.....but oddly these are our options
We are planning to exchange our 01 CL next spring. We could go to a number of other Hondacars..... CL-S, TL-S, Accord EX V6 or RSX-S.
I like the CL-S MT but we the 03 CL will be the same body style. I'm afraid that we won't be happy with the CL-S when the new one comes out.
We've already had a 99 TL but I always liked that car. However, it doesn't offer the MT, but it has a powerful V6 and autostick. And the 04 TL will be nicer yet, I think.
The Accord is the new car, and we like to drive the latest powertrains. A non leather EX V6 sedan or coupe would be nice. It'll be cheaper than the CL/TL and almost as fast. But, everyone and their mother (mine does) has an Accord and I guess we can't get an autostick.
The RSX-S is fast and furious. We could get that and sell the Prelude -which then would open up the door for a TS-X down the line.
Ideas?

Damn, Tony, you're all over the map on this one. It usually seems that you not only change cars fairly often, but also like to drive the "latest and greatest". That said, I'd say check out the Accord. Then again, if you don't need such a large-ish car, you might want the TS-X when it becomes available, which would mean you probably shouldn't get the Accord.
I think the Accord V6 coupe will be a bit quicker than the TS-X and maybe a bit sportier with it's 240HP V6 vs. the TS-X ~190HP I4.
The RSX-S is certainly a nice car, but built for a bit different purpose than the TL-S 6M: sport vs. touring sport.
Maybe you should just wait until we get some driving impressions done on the Accord coupe first. The CL-S might be a much nicer or worse vehicle, and we won't hesitate to tell you! =-)

Yeah, I agree with Ryan - Tony is all over the map :-)
But seriously...Tony, we'll be posting our impressions of the CL-S vs. RSX very soon here and that should provide you some more insight.
Frankly, IMO, if I could only have one car that did everything for me (track time, commuting, fun canyon driving, etc.) it would be the RSX-S. Its just more nimble and versatile with the hatchback.
However, if I wanted a hot cruiser that had a nice taste of luxury and could put the smack down in the average traffic encounter, the CL-S 6 has it all over the RSX. Since I already own a nimble sports car (S2K), if I had to pick one of these cars today, I'd make the stretch for the CL-S 6.
As for the TSX and Accord, I think that the TSX will have a very RSX feel to it, just a bit more relaxed thanks to the larger displacement. And the Accord will feel much like the CL-S, just not as aggressive.

Yeah, I'm all over the map 'cause I gotta exchange one car and possibly two.
(1) One of my concerns about the NA Accord is that it will be _less_ aggresive than the CL. As it now stands, the CL can be waaaay too cushy for me. At 85 mph it just won't downshift. The Type S is better in this concern, but unfortunately both the TL and CL are last gen cars that we've already sampled.
(2) Late January is the drop date. We gotta make our decision by then. In the meantime, we're thinking of selling the Prelude as well, that will drop down us to an Odyssey and CL so we'll be ready. When will your review come out?
(3) Something I may even look for is a factory used, low mileage Si. I think those should be in the used lot by now.
(4) My sister just got an RSX-S. They've driven my Prelude and they told me that the VTEC characteristics are similar.... it comes in with a vengeance at the top end. They love their RSX.
(5) Whatever happens, I think I want a TX-S, specially if they make a Type S wagon!
(6) We don't need one car to do it all. Thank God for that. And the RSX is a bit too loud for that. I think if I had to compromise the CL-S would be a better choice. You could always change wheels at the track. OTOH, it might be weird to use a voice activated nav system to pick your racing line: "turn left in twenty feet..." or the Onstar system to call the tow truck "please get me off the ditch on turn three"...
(7) Yes, the S2K is the car we really want to grow up into from the Prelude. But the timing just hasn't been there.
