Just noticed that Acura is finally realizing that in order to move more cars that they are introducing lease rates on their site. Lease rate for a 2005 RL V6 5 Speed Automatic Transmission with Navigation System is $599.00 per month for 48 months. I do not know about you, but on their same web site they are offering the MDX (non - touring model) for $399 a month. Last time I checked the price difference was "only" $8 ~ 9,000 dollars. So two-hundred bucks diffference? They need to knock another 100 - 150 dollars off that $599 lease rate if they are going to think about moving more RL's. I want one myself, but not for over $650 a month including tax!
Acura, are you listening? Make the lease deal more realistic and people like me will stop by and drive one home!

I think as a general rule for lease & finance rates..... the deals don't happen very quickly from a new product release.
ex. 2005 RSX-S, 2005 RL, 2005 Ridgeline, 2005 Accord Hybrid
If someone really wants an RL, they will lease or finance it the day it's released.
After the RL's been out long enough, the deals will be offered to keep customers interested in their product. The RL was released relatively recently, so I wouldn't expect much of an incentive in rates to be offered until late 2005 early 2006.
Prime example is the TSX... the 2004 rate went from 6.8% down to 3.8%. I'm waiting for fall 2005 to consider "low-season" lease/finance incentives from the dealers.

Yeah, ouch. Here's another one for you: the NSX costs $40,000 more than the RL, and the lease rate is only $200/month more ($799), with the same amount due at signing.
I wonder what the TL is leasing for....

Last Sunday I saw a weekly add at Rallye Acura for a 699 a month lease with 0 down on an RL.

You must understand that the MDX Premium is 13grand less than the RL, MSRP to MSRP and that doesn't include the tax and financing charges that you pay on the extra money.
And I am 99% sure that MDX program is at a pre-discounted price, widening the gap even more.
Over a 60 month term, every 1000 dollars represents about 20 bucks per month. When leasing the number increases about 10-15 dollars more per month. This is not completly accurate but is a good rule of thumb.
As being 200 bucks more a month, that seems pretty fair seeing how the car really costs about 15k more.
As far as the 599 program goes it is competitve in it's class. By class I mean Audi, BMW, MB and Lexus. Exculding the Audi, most of these makes have pretty standard lease rates and will price out very similar to the RL.
Please don't include the STS because GM basically allows you to lease one with inflated risiduals and ultra cheap money.
I think Acura could move metal if they adjusted their rates a bit lower but traditionaly Acura/Honda Finance, excluding rare specials, have higher than normal money factors.
Acura and Honda rarely give cheap money, but yet keep breaking monthly sales records and retain an excellent source of profit. This is what seperates Honda from many other companies.
I would rather see Honda sell less RL's and let it build it's own identity, then tarnish it's name by whoring them out.
