Hi all, 1st time posting on the forum.

I need some help, I have a 94 civic ex (canadian model). Recently the engine when idle start to rev up and down. Well what happen is the engine started alright in the morning, idling at constant 2.5Krpm (cold start). Then I started driving, but after 5-10min drive, when I put the car back in park position, the engine would rev up to 2.5~3K and back down to normal .5K then back up to 2.5K then back and repeat again (kind of like I am pressing on the gas and releasing it then press again -- but I am not doing it of course). Turn it off for a while (5 min or so) and start again the engine is back to normal. Do you guys have any ideal what cause this and the fix?

Hi, First time poster as well.

I had the same problem w/my 95' Civic EX, When I would start the car it would run fine, as soon as it would warm up the rpm's would jump up and down over and over.

I heard that my thermostat was problably either bad or stuck shut. I heard about a home remedy sort of thing to check if your thermostat is still good.

Take your thermostat off and put it in the freezer for a few minutes until it's cold, then put it in a pan of boiling water.
If the thermostat opens and the seal is in good condition then you thermostat is still good.
I did this and I assumed that it wasn't the thermostat since it opened and looked new. When I put the part back on the car and drove it around a little it was just fine. Did have any other problems with it. I don't know if this is your problem or not, but hey it's worth a shot and this way it won't cost you anthing.
Hope this helps.

You might possibly have a sensor that is bad. If there is not check engine light then I am probably wrong. But it MIGHT be a TPS sensor gone bad.
