Although I enjoy driving, I'm totally clueless when it comes to the mechanics of a car. I recently bought a '98 Integra LS 3-door, and I've noticed that lately there is a definite lag in the stickshift while shifting. For example, I'll take the stick out of first gear and attempt to put it into second, however the stick will resist until it's sat with me pressing it against the second-gear slot for anywhere up to a whole second. I mentioned this offhand to a guy I work with and he mentioned that this could indicate a big problem, does anyone have any ideas?

hmm, is the clutch disengaging immediately? Or is the car holding the revs for a moment even after you've clutched and lifted off the gas pedal? if the revs are hanging up, then your clutch could be sticking.
Otherwise, it could be your synchros or maybe even a bent shift fork or something like that. How many miles are on that car?

It has nearly 108K miles on it. I bought it secondhand with just under 100K miles on it, and the ones I've put on it are nearly all hard-driven miles. It had this problem when I bought it, and it seems to be worse now that the weather is colder. The clutch seems to be disengaging properly, as the revs begin to drop and acceleration eases immedately after depressing the pedal.
