I want to install somekind of lighting device to the cup holder area on my 05 Civic EX. At night you can't see ANYTHING down there. I'm considering some kind of custom luminescent disk... Has anyone played around with anything like this, or seen anything out there on the market?

Thanks,

I've seen some people put LEDs that match the dash lighting inside the cupholders. That would look good as well as provide some decent lighting down below. Just pick up some LED's and install them in the back of the cupholders with a switch to turn them off. or wire it to the cigarette lighter.

On a side note, have you driven any of the new Acuras? At night especially? The TSX I got as a loaner has some nifty blue LEDs accenting the storage pockets and one on the ceiling aiming down to highlight the shifter/cup holder area.
Kinda surprising to get a blue hand when you put it out to adjust the stereo.

LEDs are the way to go. Just find a good place to mount one so it shines on the area you want to highlight. I would recommend mounting it flush/recessed to cut down on glare as they do tend to be kinda bright.

If you want a luminicent disk, mount an LED in the bottom edge of the cup holder and place a clear plastic disk in the cupholder. The light should distribute across the whole disk. One LED per cup holder should do.
