Im relatively new to Acura/ honda. I am going to be buying an 05 RSX type-S this summer. I was wondering if anyone could tell me accurate 0-60 and 1/4 mile times for a stock RSX Type-s (preferably for a 2005 or 2004)? The reason why I ask is I've seen a wide range of numbers from 6.7-7.8 (0-60)and I can't find any 1/4 mile times.

Well, 1320 times for a stock 02-04 type S are quoted around 15.4 I think from 'car and driver' and people like that. A good driver, with the spare/floor mats, etc.. removed ,lower tire pressure in the front and a good launch can pop off a sub 15 (14.9) quarter mile. A type S (02-04) with hondata #4, CAI, exhaust, and motor mount inserts and a real good driver can get as low as 13.8. A 50 shot of no2 and a CAI can also put you in the 13.8 range.
I have no idea what the 05s are getting.. I would assume it is pretty similar to an 02-04.. It may be a little faster due to the high rev limiter...

check this out - I did a 0-55mph all 2nd-gear run in the 05 RSX-S with a video camera trained on the tach and speedo.
later i was reviewing the run and I checked the timecode on the tape. from the moment before the speedo needle moved to the time it hit 55 mph, it took less than 6 seconds(!). And this was a very gentle launch - no clutch dump or anything. there were no tricks - this was on level ground.

Thats pretty impressive for a 2nd gear run. But cant you hit 60 in second gear in an RSX-S? I swear I remember driving one (base model) where I hit 70 in second. My Accord can get to 65 in second. Just curious... If the RSX-S can only get to 55 in second, then that 2nd-3rd shift really would kill the 0-60 time wouldnt it?
Anyway, for those interested here is a cool web page :

This page is pretty accurate from what I've been able to tell, they list the 2002 RSX-S at 6.1/14.8 :-)

a 6.1 has been recorded by C/D and/or MT in the past. It's hard as hell to hit that with all the wheel hop and everything.
But yeah, if you read the "first impression" article I wrote on the '05 RSX, you have to shift twice to get 60mph. I think the '05 will easily be quicker time to distance, but the 6.1 second 0-60 is going to be a tough one thanks to the 2-3 shift that's now required. Perhaps with a lot of work on the launch and superquick shifting (the synchros between 1-2 don't like being hurried though) will get something in that range, but I think it's more of a 6.4-6.5 0-60. The '05's 1/4 mile should easily be quicker than the '04, though.

I think this may say something at least for the improvements in the torque band. To run to 55 in all 2nd gear with no clutch burning launch in that amount of time is impressive. It will be interesting to see what new #'s come out of the mags. Personally I think 0-60 is not the best measure of a car's acceleration since nobody beats their cars as hard as the magazines. 5-60 comes closer, and the 1/4 mile and 0-100 tell the story. With a manual car that doesn't clear 60 in 2nd the #'s are not going to tell the story. You may have a 6.5 sec 0-60 car that will keep up or outrun a 6 sec 0-60 car in the 1/4 mile or 0-100 run. Nice video.
