2004 CRV Head Unit AntiTheft no CODE?    (Score: 1, Normal) 07-03-2004 15:04

Good day,

Bought a 2004 CRV AM/FM/Cass/6 Disc CD head unit to replace stolen radio in my 2001 Odyssey. It fits the dash, plugs right in, I hear the CD transport cycle a bit and the Anti-Theft light blinks. But that's it.

The ebay chap who sold it to me used it for about a month, it's in great shape and I also have the card to enter the security code.

The problem is when I press Power button, nothing displays. It is my understanding that "CODE" should be displaying so that I can enter the info on code card. What's the deal? Is there a secret button combo to initialize the unit? Do I need to leave it on and disconnect neg cable? Getting dizy from the research on a Saturday......!

Thanks, Tim

It's possible that the harnesses don't fully match up electrically and that could be causing the problem you're facing. Some of the Honda stereo units are tied into the security system (integrated keyless entry and security system electronics) so perhaps that CR-V radio is mismatched to the Odyssey's nerve center and that's why it's not working (even though the wiring harness is physically the same).
