I have a question about painting the rear bumper of my Honda Accord coupe. It's an '03, and is fairly new.
This afternoon, I was in a parking lot that unbeknownst to me, had huge boulders placed behind where a person might back their cars out of the parking spaces. I drive very carefully, and didn't expect to see huge boulders behind the car. Anyway, I have some scratches, and slight indentations to the rear bumper. I'm trying to avoid repainting the entire bumper, as it will come to $255 to get that done. I'm wondering if there's a safe way to paint it. It isn't huge, but I'm just looking for a good way to camoflage it. If there is no good way to do it, then I'll just have to go and have the whole thing painted and sanded.
Has anyone else attempted the camoflage versus huge paint job. If the the camo doesn't work then I will just go to Honda and let them fix it.
Anyway, I'm a bit depressed about this since my car is still new. :(
Any advice you could give would be nice.

Go to Autozone or Pepboys and get a spray can of your exact color paint..ask them, they can order it if they dont have it in.
Sand area and do any body filling thats necessary.
Tape off area round and keep rest of the car covered.
If you see body plastic or anything, pick up a can of primer too.
Sand area to make smooth and provide enough grip for the paint/primer
In even sprays, spray primer on the completely bare areas.
when dry, sand with extra fine sandpaper and water
now clean area of all dust and spray evenly with the color spray.
maybe add another coat depending on how it looks and if the spray isnt gloss in the can, get a clear coat can of stuff too and spray on afterwards.
use clear coat polish to make smooth and clean looking.
This is the best I can tell you to do a great do it yourself job for cheap. JUST HAVE PATIENCE with the painting though and try to do it in a garage or area where dust and dirt and air particles wont be contantly flying past and sticking to the bumper.
GOOD LUCK!
