Quick tips on maint. parts replacements

Please throw any suggestions to me about the following parts replacement (all 2000 GS-R)...
- Distributor cap and rotor (Does it simply come off and new parts go back on?)
- Fuel filter (I heard that you need to take out the fuse for the fuel pump, start the car, and wait till it stops working from fuel cutoff. Then just replace the filter. Is it true and so simple?)
- PCV valve (I imagine that it's very easy to replace, but where is it located?)
