I wish they would bring this to the states!
From your experience, would you say the NSX-R makes more than the 290 HP that our US NSX's make? or is it the gearing, lighter flywheel, less weight, and less insulation that make it seem a lot faster.

Well, the US NSX we dyno tested wasn't terribly impressive on the dyno but then it went out and put down an easy 13.0 for its first run down the dragstrip. Too bad it belched 2nd gear on the 3rd run - i'm pretty confident that a 12 second slip was well within reach.
anyhow, it's hard to say whether the NSX-R makes more than 290hp - I believe the NSX-R motors are blueprinted and built to a higher standard than the standard motors so there's a possibility it could be stronger than the normal 290 motor. It seems that the car we dyno tested was a little low on power compared to most 3.2L (stock) NSXs (I understand they usually put down 260 or more to the wheels), so it's generally thought that the stock nsx is underrated by 20-30hp.
anyhow, that NSX-R pulled really hard, but it wasn't just the power. Just like the NSX, what impresses the most is how well everything works together to create a nearly perfect package.
It looks like i'm going back to Tochigi in a few weeks. Hopefully I'll get a chance to relive the dream :) and maybe I'll get to spend some more time in these cars.

I read a recent article in Super Street where someone, somehow got a new ITR over to the states. Why can't they
smuggle an NSX-R over here? Anyway, great review! Thanks!
