chip repair?    (Score: 1, Normal) 03-18-2004 19:55

I have some pretty big chips in my hood. I saw on speed channel a product that came with prep solution, finishing sand paper, touch up paint and a clear coat finishing solution, but for the life of me I cannot remember the name of the stuff. The chips are maybe 1/8th-3/32 in diameter so kinda large to just touch up. Considering taking it to a body shop but I know it's going to cost an arm and a leg to have them profesionally fixed.

Any Idea what product I should look into getting to fix these, if they were not in such a high visability area I'd just use regular touch up.

Also the body shop who repaired my car left buff swirls in the paint, very obvious when the car is freshly washed, anything you can do to eliminate these?

Thanks for any info.

i think the best way to handle that problem is to have the car wet sanded and then apply your wax or prefered sealer. i just tried a product called 5 starshine with great results as far as the shine and not to have to reaply for years to come . its on web site 5starshine.com
