Since I've had my car, I've experienced very touchy handling from what is due I think to alignment. I plussed upped the wheels and tires, I put hubcentric rings on. It seems that it's difficult to get a GOOD alignment on the car, though it's been 3 times that way. I've had it aligned and re-aligned many many times now. It seems to be easily thrown out of alignment, and it also fluctuates from bad to not-so-bad. I can't pinpoint why or when it does fluctuate. It just varies. Symptoms of the bad alignment are non-planted feel on the freeways, darty tracking on the grooved freeway, easily tossed left and right from crosswinds, nervous lane changing, steering requiring more corrections, more body roll, out-of-whack crappy handling. I feel that most cars out there on the road, including minivans and SUVs handle better than my car. Any help would be MUCH apprectiated because I'm even considering selling the car despite all the $$ I put into it.

I think ever Accord does this. I notice the same thing with my wife's car (04 EXL 5MT). I was hoping it was the tires.

You know, I noticed a similar trait in the latest 6MT TL we tested. I was a little concerned because I didn't notice anything of the sort on the other 6MT or 5AT TLs I've driven (with the exception of the one preproduction 6MT car that had a loose rear suspension component!). I wonder if some of the other press cars that magazines are testing and complaining about are simply out of alignment...
Anyhow, the problem I noticed wasn't really too noticeable except on some long turns, especially at higher speeds when you might experience a dip or a bump and some suspension compression - the car didn't feel very well settled and you would have to correct the steering quite a bit. It almost felt like there was a very minor amount of bump steer from the rear. It also seemed to wander a bit more - straight line tracking wasn't as good as it should have been.
The 5AT TL we tested a few weeks later took a perfect set over the same roads and simply felt rock solid. Shawn seemed to think that the 6MT's "wiggliness" was caused by subtle activities of the LSD, but since I didn't feel it in any of the other 6MT TLs I've driven, I'm not convinced that's the problem. And hearing about how sensitive the Accords (same platform, basically the same suspension) are to alignment settings makes me wonder if our car was possibly a bit out of alignment. Press cars do lead a very tough life - I've seen a lot of them go airborne, over kerbs, etc...

Interesting Jeff. My symptoms manifest themselves even in steady state cruising. Of course on the freeway, when accelerating somewhat briskly and esp while making a lane change under acceleration, the car feels loose up front, the steering wheel gets light and vague and needs constant correction. Under aggressive turns, the car feels like its tires are really rounded and soft. Numb rubbery steering. I hope I'm painting a vivid picture here. I concur about what you said about the minor bump steer. You also mentioned that these Accords (i'm assuming 7th gen) ARE sensitive to alignment settings - so I'm not crazy. How can I cure this problem? I'm taking my car into a shop to have it checked for this issue, and I'll mention to the techs what you said about a loose suspension component. Thanks for your help.
