The other day I was driving down the 126 going to Fillmore,CA. I was cruising at about 75mph 4500rpm(J1 trans./ B16A) when the tachometer dropped really quick then went back to 4500. I slowed down to about 60mph and no problem. Only when I started to hit about 4250rpm did this continue to occur. It couldn't be the clutch cause if it was the engine would continue reving but that didn't happen. On my way to work this morning I sped up to 90mph 5200rpm and nothing happened like if it had never happened. But on my way back home at about 75mph it did it once. Is it a bad connection, my tranny, the coil, What could it be???? any help would be greatly appreciated.

If there was no drop in power or you didn't slow down, just the Tach dropping, it may be something like a loose tach cable. As long as the engine is smooth and you don't feel any difference in the way the car drives, there probably isn't too much to worry about.

you didn't say but I'm assuming it was just the tach right?
