Does this function mean that all service will need to be done by Acura in order to have the computer reset after each service?

No, the manual has instructions on reseting it.

I'm sure we can reset "oil life" anytime. But will we be able
to reset others if they don't display yet?

For example, we try to rotate tires, and TL has "rotate" minder, too. If you do this at 6k, and you may not be able to reset minder 'cause there is no display yet. When finally the minder tells you that it's time due for "tires rotation", it's too late, and it won't calculate right anymore...

I think TL only can correctly manually reset "oil life" without impairing the precision of minder's numbers. Is it correct?

Otherwise, TL may require dealers' PGM access to reset the codes, that apparently guarantees dealers' works if you attempt to make your minders accurate.

BTW, vtechbrain,

I know you have 6spd TL, do you ever have Malfunction Indicators Lamp ON during your shift over 5k RPM at 2nd or 3rd gears?

If I'm using Sport-mode to shift my Auto TL, the MIL will be on at that situation. The dealer said to me that is the ADVICE-indicator, however, the owner manual only mentions MIL is related to WARNING issues.

Someone ever had replaced his sensor and update new patch of software in order to get rid of that annoying light, but my dealer only told me that's the sign to tell you for shifting up. Weird...

I believe this is a rare case. My car doesn't show this problem until I passed 1k mark.

No, I,ve never had any lights come on at any RPMS. That dealer explanation sounds a little fishy. I've read on other sites that that happens but I dont know if its a defect or a warning light. BTW what light is that? Is it the check engine light? That light should only come on when the computer detects a malfunction. The only thing I know that tells you you are over reving is the rev limiter.

Thanks for your replies.

I think that's the check engine light as the warning sign by the owner manual. It's on when I rev over 5K, then it comes off when lowering down. 'Cause of the powerful engine, I only can try it with 2nd or 3rd gears under the safety speed by sport-mode. I didn't have this problem until four weeks ago.

Although I cannot believe the answer my dealer told me, they seemed to find some ways to convince me. They said there is no codes reported to their computer when they pluged in PGM module into my TL, which is the device to check/inspect engine system. If my TL ever ever has any problems or detects any issues, there would be codes saved inside my chip. That PGM supposes to bring those info to that device. Unfortunately, we saw nothing from my car.

And, he kind of blamed me I should have some good break-in for 10k if trying to take care of my car for a long time... And, never try to rev over 3.5K during this period...

Thanks, it's the pretty useful link, that website I don't go there often 'cause the way of listing messages are too complicated.

I have phoned my serviceman, and am trying to convince him of this issue. Perhaps, I would switch to another dealer for it if they refuse to help.

I had the new software install, same problem after. The dealer will change the position crank sensor this week, they say that the sensor and the software as to work together. We'll see. The new software seams to make the feeling of the engine, gaz pedal, and transmission are more working together. I like the difference it make.

Thanks. I will wait for my inspection in the dealer next Friday. Hopefully, they can spot my issue without any difficulty, and replace either coil pack on cyl, or crankshaft sensor, or software update... Just make my car issue-free...

I hope so le. Mine had the same problem (as we discussed in the other thread... ) And I had the same things changed as yvon. No more problems (except for the seat memory loss issues)...

Bruce,

I try to bring all the copies to my dealer this coming Friday to convince him of the whole truth but truth... I already complained to ACS about my dealer and prepare another dealer's number ready if my current dealer still gives me the non-sense answer.

Wish me luck...

Good Luck!!! If they give you any grief, I'd tell them to call the Mobile, AL dealership. I'll PM you in a minute and tell you who to contact... (Well, I would but I can't seem to figure out how to do that here, and your email address is hidden...)

Email me if you're interested in that info!

Bruce
