I`ve got the all season Bridgestone EL42 in 235/45/17 Turanzas and want to get a wider track.I think the Yokahama ES100 series are the widest. With the 17x8 wheel, could I put 245s or maybe stretch it to 255s? I know you lose some performance and or comfort. Can you think of a wider track tire? What about 245s front 255s rear?

We haven't had a car in to test fit for wider tire sizing. Will post as soon as we do.

Why would you want wider tires on the rear than you have on the front on a FWD car? Seems like that would only emphasize the natural tendency to understeer.

I know its a FWD car but, just wondering if it would make a big difference or not notice when driving

Depends on how aggressively you corner with the car. If you drive fast only when your cruising in a straight line and ease when you hit the corners you won't notice as much. If you corner aggressively and curves and exit ramps, it will make the car push.

Actually, when pushing my car a little hard in tight turns, I have felt a little oversteer before the VSA kicks in, very strange, not used to that in a Fwd car at all, maybe the bigger rears would help.

You may want to run a little lower tire pressure in the rear or little higher pressure up front to tune out the oversteer. Perhaps Honda is trying to get the car to mimic a RWD car.

Thanks CY@TIRERACK, what would the widest track tire be for a 245/17 be currently?

We haven't test fit wider sizes as I posted above, if there were a 245 size to try the size would be 245/40-17. We don't have tread width information from all manufacturers but the widest measured tread tire in this size is the Bridgestone S-03 Pole Position. See:
http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=AL6&url=/tires/tires.jsp&tireMake=Bridgestone&tireModel=Potenza+S-03+Pole+Position
Tread width is 9 inches.

Thanks Cy, actually I was running 35 front, 32 rear which is what is called for the lighter MT version, the AT which I have calls for 32 all around. The car is not your normal performer for a FWD, maybe they did tune it that way.
