i just found out that the JDM DC5R will work on 96RON minimum (got this info from a Japnesses friend who owns a DC5R and is using 96RON fuel on his car in Japan) and where i live 95RON is only available. In Japan they have 89RON as regular and 96RON as super (high Octane fuel). Other higher octane fuels in Japan are avaiable in track petrol stations. I checked and i was told if i use 89RON regular fuel is endured, and the engine knock is generated.well sorry guys if you are annoyed from me, but i only need a simple answer to this question:
Will there be any problem if i use 95RON on a 96RON engine? please say Yes or no with the reason. I know i will loose some HP power, but i only want the car to run with our fuel here and not going through a major problem!
sorry for any annoyment with this fuel question and your feedback is apreciated!

I know you want a yes or no answer, but the best I can give you is a "probably not". The only issue with the DC5R that I can see is that 11.5 compression ratio. Here in the states, the type s will run on cheap gas by automatically pulling back the timing a little to avoid knock. Will the type r do the same? Probably, but the higher compression is still the issue. One RON, I'm guessing, isn't going to be that big a deal.

Flash is right on. Just make sure the DC5R has a knock sensor. Then, if running on 95 RON, make sure that you don't lug the engine - that's where detonation is most likely to occur.

notyper how many knock sensors are there in the Type S (just curious), cause i know there is usually one sensor located in the catalytic converter on other cars, while on the Type S there are two. hmmm correct me if i am wrong please . can you explain this for me? By the way what did you mean notyper by the word lug "make sure that you don't lug the engine" it looks bad since it detonates the engine, but what is it exactly?

I think by "lug" notyper means holding down the the gas in a higher gear at low RPM's---making the engine work like that is one of the things that causes detonation.
