'96 Civic EX stereo (Score: 1, Normal)

I know this is old news, but I haven't been able to dig up any information.

I have a '96 Civic EX Coupe with only the factory AM-FM head unit. I would like to install a CD player and most likely will just go aftermarket. My understanding is that when I pull the factory unit on '96 and '97 model Civics, the keyless entry will no longer work.

Is it possible to install an aftermarket stereo on this model and still retain the factory keyless entry?

I appreciate any info. Thanks!

Search the Audio & electronics section or just look at my past posts, you should see one that has a link to Directions on how to do this.

In short, you'll have to leave your factory stereo in the car but just hide it behind the dash. This will be accomplished with a special wiring harness for the stereo that allows both stereos to be hooked up.

Thanks! I did find it; plus I remember a little better now. I just bought this car and was trying to remember how it was back in '96.
