Where in northern Illnois or eastern Iowa can I buy a Carbon Fiber hood for my 97 GSR? I want the hood, I dont want to pay $150 to ship it. Thanks (Will go to Chicago or Des Moines if that helps)

I think I have decided to go with the VIS C/F hood. I found one in chicago at a decent price. Has anyone had any experience the the VIS products? They seem to be one of the better hoods according to about every dealer. Thanks, Chris

I've seen a number of CF Hoods on Civics, Integras and other cars as well and I must admit, they look good. Having no experience with them myself and only with reading Posts/articles, It seems you are on the right track. The one thing I haven't heard about and would definitely check out is to see if these companies have done any Crash Testing on these hoods. We know they are light, They are probably sturdy, but how safe are they in a crash. I know we all hate thinking about wrecking our cars but one thing we have to know is how they will handle in an accident. Find out about whether the hood will crash just like the Factory hood or will it break at the hinges and become a projectile.
Let us know what your findings are.

Well, i work in a speed shop and we sell lots of body kits, carbon fiber hoods, fenders, and everything else. We normally sell VIS Racing's products because they're some of the best we've seen. VIS and Aerogear seem to have the best fiberglass and carbon fiber products, and we buy mostly from VIS and have had no problems at all.

Got the hood on, It looks and fits great. I've had the car up to 95 mph and absolutely no noise or rattle. I'm very impressed with the hood and wouldnt be afraid to buy anything VIS again.

I saw a web page claiming that they have the strongest c/f hoods out. They show a picture of an ITR that rolled over and the hood in perfect condition. Also one thing that grabbed my attention was the three moivies they have on their web page with a car runniing over the hood, a guy jumping on it and dropping a rim on it. Nothing happened to it at all. Fiberimages.com check it out.I plan to get mines from there.
