I have 2000 GS-R with 50K miles. Today I checked the oil and it's barely above the "lowest" mark on the dip stick. It is normal? What is the normal level? Thanks!

The oil level should be between the 2 dots on the dipstick. The closer to the highest dot the better. I'd say there's about a 1 qt. difference between the lowest and highest dot.

Thanks! I drove only 1.5K miles since my last oil change and I changed it at the Acura dealership. I don't see any leaks or stains on the parking lot. So I don't know what?s going on. I think my RPMs started to drop more at the idle than before the oil change, maybe low level is the reason. Also, does vtec work when the oil level is that low?

I had the same experience last time when I did my oil change on my 95 GS-R. After 500 miles the oil mark fell to the lowest dot. I freaked out and have my dealership check out, turned out to be ok. I think you just need to add a little bit oil to bring it back to optimum level. My VTEC worked like usual at that oil level, FYI.

About checking oil levels...
Remember, you should check your oil levels consistently. That is, don't check it in the morning, then check it later in the afternoon immediately after turning off the engine. The readings will be completely different.
For reference, I generally check mine in the morning before driving the car. That way, the oil has had the entire night to run into the oil pan, giving me an accurate reading. I don't even have to wipe the dipstick.
Edit: Make sure you're parked on level ground, too.

what if you're way over the 2nd dot? Is that bad for the motor? any consequences for over filling?

Car will feel heavy/lethargic. Oil will seep into the combustion chamber and burn off. Probably foul the plugs in the long run.
