Kuala Lumpur Motor Show 2003 will be on from Sept. 5th. to 14th.
Will Honda be exhibiting any new models or prototypes?
Will Element, Integra or Euro Accord type R be displayed?
In general, is the whole show worth making a 800kms round trip for? The last show I visited was some 8 to 10 years ago.

So far as I know, none of the models you mention will be making an appearance. The JGTC Takata NSX from last year will probably be there though. I think most probably the new Accord and maybe the Integras that will be competing in this year's merdeka race (Aug 30th). Maybe the Fit/Jazz 1.5T (though this one is all over KL so nothing much to see).
I can't say if it's worth coming down all the way from Penang just to visit the show, your call I guess !

Anyone been to KLIMS and seen anything interesting that you might want to share? What did Honda exhibit? Any new performance bolt-ons from HKS, Mugen, etc for Honda cars especially for the D17A/ES-2?

I attended the show yesterday morning. Honda Malaysia had a run of bad luck recently and could not display 3 cars that were originally planned for the show. As a result 2 cars had to be rushed for replacement. Nevertheless, if what I saw at the show is any indication, then there's still hope for us enthusiast.
The cars on show are : JGTC Takata NSX, MME Class A winner DC5. Plus Suave Civic RX, CR-V and Jazz 1.4.
Before you pass a hasty judgement, here are some interesting tit-bits.
NONE of the cars are stock. All of them have modifications.
NONE of them has stock suspensions. The CR-V and Jazz has Eibach springs whereas the Civic RX has Honda Access sports suspensions.
All the street cars has leather seats. The Suave Civic RX has leather RECAROs. No need to mention what the race cars has of course.
The smallest size wheels is 16", the largest 18".
Honda's position for the KLIM
"The timing is very bad. It's BEFORE the Tokyo Motor Show so no prototypes or concept cars can be shown. Honda does not show OLD prototype or concept cars even if people have not seen it live. Honda believes to show an old car as a prototype or concept car, then it's an INSULT to the public (because they know we have already seen it on the internet)."
The other more interesting position is :
"Honda Malaysia CEO believes that whatever is shown in the show must be something that Honda Malaysia is prepared to sell or planning to sell in the near future. Honda do not believe in displaying models they can't/won't sell in the future".
Thus, no MDX or DC5 or CL7s.
The other manufacturers might have somethings you want to check out as well:
Ford has the new 2.0l Lynx which comes with an aftermarket HKS turbo kit (195ps)
Mazda shows the RX-8, MXS and Mazda 6. Of the lot, only the Mazda 6 is planned to be sold here in Malaysia
Toyota has the Caldina and the Wish but again NONE of them are planned to be sold here. They also has the FX-S and Fine-S concept cars which are a couple of years old.
Toyota also has a TRD Vios while TanChong has a mildly modified Nissan Sentra (with some HKS parts).
So clearly C&C (Mazda) and UMW (Toyota) do not contribute to the same principles as Honda Malaysia.
So whether it will be worthwhile to make the effort to attend the show, unfortunately only you can make the call.
As usual, I will be writing a report soon. I plan to release it BEFORE the end of this week so readers can read about it before checking the cars live over the weekend. There might be a slight delay though as I am thinking of checking back with Honda Malaysia for a bit more details on one or two of the cars.

Actually, since so many manufacturers like Porsche/Saab, DaimlerChrysler, Smart, Mazda, etc. are closing their doors. It seems more like walking in a rich mans car park, rather than a Motor Show. At least in a showroom you get to sit inside the car.
Toyota, Honda, Nissan and Naza aren't locking their cars up yet. But they might as more and more morons are damaging and vandalising the cars on display there.
