americans like big cars... they like V8s, big engines... a 1.0 liter small roadster would never sell, albeit in very limited numbers... but very limited.

honda is right not to import so many cars in to the US for that reason.

I would definitely buy this car. It'll be a worthy contender to the another Scion car that Toyota will bring over.

I don't think Honda would import it though, at 2000lb, it needs all the weight savings it can afford, passenger safety might be compromised. I just don't think it'll hold up well against a collision with Ford's Excuseme.

You forget the Insight is way under 2000 lbs and is a 1.0L but with IMA so The idea of nt being marketable is false.
This whole notion to me spells FUN !

Honda is well aware of the differences between European/Japanese roads and gas prices and those of the US. I seriously doubt that car would show up with that engine in this country.
I've wanted to write about how big a mistake Honda was making by completely ceding the small roadster market to Mazda and to a lesser extent Toyota for a long time and this could be a step towards resolving that.
Personally, what I'd like to see is a larger(2400-2500lb) roadster using a version of the S2000's chassis and the RSX's engines and drivetrains. The base would be 160hp, 5-speed manual or auto with 15" wheels and a manual top and the type-s would have 200hp, 6-speed only and 16" wheels with a manual top. Since all the major components are already in use with other vehicles this would keep development costs low and help reduce the price of those components across the board.
An IMA version would be nice as well...

WON'T SELL IN AMERICA???!!! What made the s2000 so popular? A 2 liter 4 banger that gives those v8 5 or 6 liter monsters a run for their money is what. These cars just amaze people. A 1 liter high revving engine that produces 120 or so hp will do just fine in America.

S2000 is a great car but lack of torque makes it quite hard to drive (not race but drive on a regular basis).
Experienced driver can take advantage of hi-revving S2000 engine but average driver in average city traffic situation will face different results (most V6 roadsters will easyly outperform S2000 in this situations)
