Agreed! Makes the CRV look like a Ford Pinto!

Almost looks too nice to be a Honda. Do we have confirmation that it won't be an Acura?

Since it has that NSX styling cue the way that side crease meets the C pillar perhaps it should be an Acura? They could integrate the NSX inspired styling into ONLY all future Acuras to give the brand much cohesian and much needed differentiation from Honda!

Yeah, and it looks like have an LED strip... Are we sure that this is a Honda? Looks too premium looking, and it has 4WD, the rear differential is very visible.

Yeah, i think this IS the Urban SUV - the concept already had the LED tails (PS: OMG they didn't dumb it down from the concept for once?!).

I was just saying its such a nice design with... Wait for it... _Dramatic_Good_Looks_ coupled with the NSX styling cue just thought maybe it was more worthy of being an Acura.

I also think as an Acura its nice design might help to elevate the brand. The CRV is more utilitarian while this is more sporty and could take the place of the sportier 1st gen RDX -especially with optional SHAWD! ;)

The BMW makes nice noises - for a Diesel.

The CUV looks way more like it - with the recent cars (Accord, Fit), it looks like Honda has has a return to form after the best part of a decade in the wilderness.

It'll be a Honda over here. I can see the reason why it might make sense to offer it as a car from the SUV-brand Acura in the States.

This should stay a Honda. Based on the Fit platform, I wonder how big of an engine they can stuff in there. Unless it is a turbo charged 4, it won't be powerful enough for a "luxury" brand and I use that term very loosely.

If this is just a non-aspirated version of the 1.5 liter engine then this thing will be slow as hell. On the flip side, at least the concept looks good.

It would have the 1.6 Diesel, although I think I read it could be 1.5 diesel in some form for Europe.

An Acura badge would not be smart, if Honda wants to sell a lot of these in the US. There are nine Honda dealers for every one Acura dealer. Market penetration is important. Most smaller cities in the US do not have an Acura dealer.

Seems to me this going after the Kia Soul sales (a huge success). The Soul is interesting with all of the limited special editions and will be all new for 2014 starting at $14,700 USD. Soul base is 1.6L 130 hp and 2.0 164 hp gasoline are available in USA.

The only thing that will stop the Honda Urban SUV from being a smash hit is if Honda once again underpowers the car. Please please please don't come out with some 120 hp slug, let's have some fun!!!

This vehicle will surely weigh as much as a Civic. As such I fear a 1.5 just won't cut it. It's problem enough in the existing auto tranny fit. Even with DI and a CVT its lack of torque will be a sales obstacle. Especially if you are at altitude. Needs a DI 1.8 or 2.0. Like the Soul. Or the Juke. Get right this will be a huge seller. It should go down so well where I live, just needs enough power, enough refinement, decent visibility and the usual Honda competence in other areas.. And not look silly - like the Juke.

Hopefully the 1.5 is only a base engine and the 1.5-Turbo is offered in NA as well. Or maybe they'll do the 1.5 ROW but slip in the DOHC 1.8 with "power vtec" and "tubular exhaust" header Jeff referenced here: http://www.vtec.net/forums/one-message?message_id=1017364&news_item_id=1017152

I say make it an Acura, they are already kicking ass with the MDX/RDX. Perfect gateway car for younger urban professionals that want more then a Honda. It will lead to more sales for the brand overall and lead them to upgrade to the next cuv.

Honda will have CRV and Fit to cover the Honda side.

I expect if it is Honda, then will be some engine from the Civic side of things, if Acura, something from the Acura side of things.

I think Honda has more brand equity than Acura. Other than SH-AWD, I don't see anything Acura currently offers that would make me want one.

I'd like to see a Honda badge on this and a virtually unchanged exterior from the concept vehicle. While I'm wishing, how about a six speed manual coupled with a decently powered turbo four that exceeds the power output of the 1.6T in the Juke would be icing. You can get a Juke with AWD and a six speed. Honda better not chicken out and spout off the usual bullshit of "Nobody buys them." If they don't build them, there's nothing to buy.

That's not really short-sighted; Acura badging really is a US-only irrelevance and the CUV and NSX will carry their proper surname in most places.

As an aside, many profane companies are trying to create upmarket line (Initiale Paris, DS, Vignale (you'd have thought failing with Ghia before would have been a hint there!) and maybe we'll get a Type-Acura as well!

I have no doubt this is going to be a huge success in NA.

Regarding engines, I'm sure as usual that the focus will be on efficiency, not enthusiasts, so \i'm prepared for a disappointment. I would certainly hope for the 2.0 ED/ 160-170 HP for the AWD version that most in the northern states/Canada would want, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Regarding the small displacement turbo talk in this thread, does Honda even make such an engine? Seems odd they would do all that R+D on ED, and then go with turbo applications, especially on a mainstream Honda product. Besides, having owned an RDX turbo, I still have a bad taste in my mouth for that mess of an application.

Plus, the camera car sounds like it is not stock at all, at least the exhaust and hey find sort of hard time to reach it and pass it...

So my guesses are, this will have a 2.0L turbo, well see...
