Mclaren P1 undergoing shakedown tests in Southwest. Reading the description of the car sounds alot like marketing material fort the upcoming NSX. Same market?

$1.3mil vs. ~$115-130k? Not likely to have the same target buyers unless they are collectors of everything.

The NSX is going to surprise people on the track,

the Type-R and the Special Editions are going to take no prisoners! :)~

I remember the first time on track with the Comptech NSX(Supercharger, lower gear, better suspension) in the late 90's
and all I was thinking is what a crime Honda did by only giving it 290hp......finally enough horsepower to take the chassis to its limit! :)

The NSX is going to spoke the i-8. The i-8 will not have the power to hang with the NSX, its only advantage will be electric driving range and Acura has already hinted the NSX is capable of going this route if they choose too.

If Honda really commits to sustain their presence at this level of vehicle; with the ability to create great engines the sky is the limit regarding performance; all of their production vehicles have had plenty of capacity… that’s was the thrill having a Civic, Prelude, Integra, Legend & NSX 1.0 they all allowed the end user the ability to apply a uniqueness to them…

What new NSX???? The one from the Avengers? Until there are cars in production there is no such thing as a new NSX.

Right...

Because Honda's heralded hybrid history really deserves my confidence. Just based on nameplate and price range, the i8 will be an extra challenge for the alleged next NSX to overcome.

Great Point. This car is already becoming a Legend before it's time.

Besides, even if the NSX, after another two years, finally comes out, the BMW will still be updated with continuous improvements. The NSX's lead, if any, won't be there for long. The BMW i8's real purpose is to lend credence to a potential BMW "i" range (much the same way as the CLA45 AMG associating at least some variant of credibility to the US market CLA), in addition to amortizing their CF technology development cost.

Not that any of that matters in the "hybrid super sports car" world, where the Porsche 918 has set the production car record at the Nurburgring (and unlike the other record holder, it's actually street and track legal in most countries). In addition, unlike the NSX, which also debuted two years ago, the hybrid Porsche is shipping by the end of this year. Yes, it's much more expensive, but after the fifth digit, numbers are mostly semantics based on willingness, not logical need.

The moral of this story is. Honda had better be willing to make something incredible and special, like the original NSX or S2000. We know the project leader of those two has long since left Honda. Lets hope there is at least someone in Honda with the smarts, will, and commitment to create something special (not merely a successor - which in itself is already seeming less and less likely as every new bit of rumor and info comes to pass).
