First thing Are all the wires for the vtec have a good connection? Second, proper oil pressure/change oil if needed.
Check the ecu, stock or b18c? Is the engine warmed up??? If you just started the car, and are running it hard, my Prelude the vtec wouldn't kick in until the engine was properly warmed up, this is to keep from damaging the motor, the prelude keeps climbing up to 7k, but there is no power up that high w/o the higher lift/duration cam lobe. Third, check the solenoid, is it damaged/leaking? Is your cam seal o.k... this doesn't really apply, just might as well check while you're here. This should get you started, does anyone else have any ideas, I've only owned a prelude and accords, but I would assume the h22 has alot in common w/the b18.
