Hi guys,
Maybe you can give me some insight into why my transmission is acting up on my 00 Civic Si. This happens rarely, but when it does its a pain. The most likely scenario is this: I will be driving along on a regular street at the normal speed for it, keeping up with traffic, usually have the tranny in 4th or 5th gear at about 35-50mph and all of a sudden the tranny starts slowing the car down!?? I keep hitting the accelerator but no help there, I downshift with the car because I have no choice and when I shift into another gear I try the accelerator again and no luck. I end up going all the way to first gear and for safety sake to get going, rev up my engine to 7000rpm at least, do a small burnout, and im going again. Its as if it never happened. Also, sometimes when the tranny slows down the car, rarely, I can downshift one gear and hit the accelerator and the transmission will stop slowing the car down. Now, in total this has happened 8 times over 1 1/2 months time. 2 times on a short 120 mile trip down I-95. When it happened on the highway I had to slow all the way down to 0 and did a small burnout to get started both times. The rest have happened in the city. Info on my Si: 55,000 miles, maintainced regularly, clutch and flywheel replaced on 10/28/02 with 44,517 miles. On a side note: I have a bad vehicle speed sensor which I will be replacing next week, if that helps at all. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Do I need to get another transmission? Thank you for any help with this.
