My understanding is that the M/T Accords will begin delivery in November. Has anyone ordered one or spoken to their dealer about one? I'm interested in what people are hearing in terms of availability/pricing. Thanks.

I ordered an Accord sedan Sport 6MT a couple weeks ago. See here for the thread. They said 45-90 days delivery when I first talked to them about it. A few days later when I put the money down, they weren't quite as definite and said it's really up in the air. November would be great. Keep in mind that I am probably not the first in line to get a 6MT model.

I negotiated the price already and we settled at about $1000 under MSRP. I paid $500 up front to get it allocated/ordered and I'll negotiate my trade when the car is delivered (if I want to trade in my old car).

I just got word that mine (US) will also be getting delivered at the end of November or first week of December.

In Canada we get Sport MT in pearl white, blue, gray and black. I had Pearl White on order. But then I saw a white touring and a gray sport side by side. The gray looks way better to me. So I changed my order to a Modern Steel Metallic Sport. I work at a Honda dealer so I have seen all the colours and driven lots of assorted Accords except for MT models of coarse.

I wish I felt the same. I want the 6MT but really want white. I'll go to the dealer and do the same as you; see the two side-by-side. I hope that sells me on the Steel, because right now I'm leaning towards liking the Pearl AT more than the Steel 6MT. (A choice that until this past Monday I never imagined I'd have to make. Darn you, Honda.)

I just test drove a 6mt, 6 cylinder coupe. The first thing I noitced when I sat in the car was the number of seat adjustments and how comfortable the driving position was. Once behind the wheel, I pushed the start/stop button. The engine runs so quiet, w/o any vibrations it didn't seem as the car was even on. Even the starter engagment was extremely quiet, almost like starting a hybrid. I just tapped the accelerator and the car's engine barked out a powerful note. Observations inside the car was much "cleaner" than last year's model. A very neat, well placed viewing screen. Honda has done something with the torque steer problem that I had noticed in last year's model. The output is 278 HP on the engine. It has the 6 cylinder deactivation to 3 cylinder. The salesman has a 6 cylinder automatic that he just got back from a 500 miles trip with cruise control on and he averaged 32 mpg at 80 mph. He said once the car was up to speed, it was mostly runing on 3 cylinders. I now have a 4 cylinder 150 hp, so with almost twice the hp and gobs more torque, it is an exceptional driving experience. I didn't get a chance to truly drive it around a curvy road, like I normally do when I test drive a car, but the salesperson, said that their were only 2 6mt's in a 5 state area around us. He said you crash it, you bought it. He's very familiar with my drivng style, so I kept it civil today. For the money around $36K, IMO, it's right up there with cars that cost $10K more. Very impressed.

Salespeople like this make me cringe. First off the MT does not have VCM - only autos. Secondly, and so many sales people seem to think this - there is no way of telling when the car is running on 3 or 6 cylinders. the usual thing is they say is that the little ECO light comes up when you are in 3 (or in past models 4) cylinder mode. Wrong. The ECO light is triggered whenever the car is besting 10 litres per 100 kms or 28 imperial mpg). That said i am sure that at 80mph it is still running on 3 cylinders, as this probably only requires 50 hp or so.

Sorry, just feeling very argumentative today. Sounds like a great car (as indeed was the old non-vcm V6-6).

I've been dealing with this salesman for 12 years and he has always been up to speed on the cars he sells. All I can think of is that since this is the first 6mt that the dealership has gotten in, he assumed all 6 cylinder cars have vcm. I wonder why they don't have vcm on manuals.

My guess is that in order for vcm to be affective a computer has to be in control of both the transmission and the engine. And I am guessing VCM is automatically disabled when using paddle shifters as well for the automatics. Fun and efficiency do not mix well with today's available technology. Similarly, on the 4 cylinder CVT's, once you attempt to use the paddle shifters there is no benefit of CVT mpg gains.

Honda.com would have you believe the V6 6MT has it:

After going through Honda's slightly confusing info on the 2013 6 speed V-6 Coupe, it appears that it does not have VCM. The highway mpg is 28, instead of 32 for the auto. Also, under the VCM availability designation in the specs. it only indicates the 6AT.

Honda really needs to clean up/correct their literature, since it is pretty ambiguous about VCM's availablility on the 6 speed V-6 Coupe at this point.

If you look at the Accord engine listings, there are two distinct ones for the '13 Accord V6; one for AT and one for MT:

J35Y1(EarthDreams)
2013+ Honda Accord V-6

J35Y2(EarthDreams)
2013+ Honda Accord V-6 (MANUAL ONLY)

That right there tells you the Manual is being engineered without VCM. Silly, but there it is.

Does anyone know if the Canadian Accords are being built in Ohio like the US Accords? Or in Japan? It seems strange that Honda would offer a wider selection of MT trims and options to Canada, and apparently delivered sooner, than in the US, if they were being built at the same factory.

It is not strange, is about the MRSP for the manual accords in Canada, much more expensive than in the USA, that covers the change model in production line (costs money)...
