Just got a letter in the mail from Honda. It is stating that I am qualify for an extended warranty for my paint on the hood and fender area. The car on my hood is cover with chicken's feet print and I took it to the dealership today. The dealership created a ticket and will provide the evident to Honda corporate to get the ok to work on my car. Here is the list of color which is effected by this notice:
Nighthawk Black Pearl
Crystal Black Pearl
Fiji Blue

I got the same notice a few days ago. I have a 2006 SI in Fiji blue paint and have a lot of small white scratches / chips. I will have to get it in soon to see what they say.

I have a feeling they are going to expand it again. I have Redline Orange Pearl and am getting the same thing on and around the leading edge of the hood.

I received the notice as well. Have all the symptoms, I have not acted on it yet.
Is anyone as concerned as I am about a mismatch in color between the fenders and the doors and bumper? I think the bumper should have been added to the pack.

Just had my '06 with Nighthawk Black Pearl at the dealership this morning. The service manager approved the paintwork and took pictures of the crows feet.
The process is a little disconnected because the auto body shop is actually a separate company off site. I wanted to ask the body shop how they will deal with the front bumper since it looks just as bad as the hood & fenders.
I would be willing to pay a few bucks for the bumper spray but they will probably want $1000 or more?

the good thing about the dealership that I am using is that they don't have their own bodyshop. So what they will do for me is to set me up with a local bodyshop. I will probably use the that has the best warranty on their work.

They might be able to match your paint, but given that color and undertones, are you at all worried?

Need to also actually acknowledge also in this the clear coat failure that also occurs with these colors, even with over maintaining the finish it still occurs. As well as possible paint peeling in the rear window jam area that happened to my car as well as others on 8thcivic.com. I love my car but hate that its been over 50% repainted and never been in a accident and who knows when the other 50% of the paint will fail. This happened to a car that had less then 20k miles on it washed at least once a week, waxed every two weeks with carnuba wax with no cleaners in it, sealed every 6 months, all with high quality detailing problems. I hated this who ordeal and hated having to take my car to 3 other body shops because Honda thought the Dealers Body shop was to high. I hated that the district rep tried to blame me for causing the problem when it was obvious not and was more concerned about a few water marks that occurred driving to the dealership after making it was spottless after washing it the night before. He said right here is your problem you use silicon based automotive supplies, really I said that's news to me since all of the ones I used are water based. HATED the whole blame and that it took 5 months and constant fighting to fix. Really has put a bad taste in my mouth

Wow!
I have a 2007 Si sedan in Habanero Red with the same "chicken feet" on the hood.
I just noticed it a few days ago.
The car has about 43,000 miles on it and I have NO idea when it started.
I will contact my dealer.
The car is way out of warranty, so I hope they don't hassle me about that.
Thank you for the alert!

Oh yeah, definitely worried about it, but figure it would be better than having my paint flaking off... Plus, it is possible they could blend it to minimize the appearance of it. It is really irritating because other than that, my car has one of the most even finishes I have seen on a Honda recently (usually with modern painting techniques, things like bumpers don't completely match, especially with pearl/metallic colors).

I'm in a similar situation as you are. My Fiji Blue Pearl has incredibly even tones between the bumper and metal, and my main concern is not the hood, it's the fenders no longer matching both the doors and bumper. The hood is facing up, so there's never a way to get the same lighting conditions to directly compare it to the rest of the car (unless the fenders were not to get painted with it).

By any chance can you email me the letter that you received? I´m from Mexico City and I have a 07 Si coupe fiji blue suffering from the same issue. I want to work out this situation with Mexico's Honda Corporate office and the letter would be very useful to backup my request.
Thank you :)

Did anyone get their car painted yet? Something is holding up the work at my dealership. They are stalling to set up the appointment with the body shop.

When dealerships start "stalling" that is when you call honda corporate office. Dealerships are total stinks, to me it is hard to understand how they do not give a sh*t about their customers - customers are the lifeblood of dealership -
To me it is a very simple process, honda calls a body shop and gets you a date, that day you take the car, and three days later you get it back. They should not even take your car if they plan to have it sit there. They need to take it in and work on it, and give it back as soon as it dries up, not three days after they remembered that it's taking up space on their lot.
I'm planning to have mine painted before the car is 7 years old, a few weeks from today.

I sent my car to the dealership for repair. Upon investigating, they found that there are similar marking on the roof of the car. My dealership said they will cover the cost even though it wasn't listed on the memo. I'll see how this will come out.

My Habanero Red '07 Si sedan will be dropped off at the dealership on Monday.
I met with the Honda factory rep this morning.
He took a look at it and said the paint was defective.
He also said the factory thinks it's a reaction to the heat of the engine. This is the first Habanero Red one they've seen.
I think it's because it's a bit hard to see, but he saw it.
It took all of 5 minutes for him to look at it, and schedule a return visit to get the hood and front fenders painted.
Keep your fingers crossed!

What's the condition of your front bumper? Did the Rep say anything about how that will be handled. I would think the bumper needs to be blended with the hood & fenders?
Mine is Crystal Black Pearl and the bumper looks as bad as the hood & fenders. My dealership is being very responsive to this recall or answering my questions.

Sorry, I already tossed the paper once I spoke with the dealership. I don't even think you have to bring the letter in. They should be aware of this issue.

My bumper was fine. I don't know why. I am very pleased (so far) how the dealer and American Honda are handling this. The final verdict will come when I pick up my car after it's repainted.
