Impressive, indeed!

Oy, this.
That said, now I'm excited to see what the TLX is going to bring to the table.

Very impressive numbers all around (save braking distance). Can't wait to see higher performance versions of this new motor show up in a Civic Si, ILX, or better yet TSX wagon.

So, eh, the same 22 mpg's as the V6, eh?
...not so great.
Still, C/D drives cars basically illegally, so it's not like that's a realistic figure.

I've seen several test of the TURBO Sonata slower than that.

Equally impressive is the skidpad number 0.87.
If I'm not wrong that's probably the best skidpad number any accord has ever recorded.

Any 0-60 data on the I4 Sport auto trans?

Never forget - Honda is first and foremost an engine company. These new Accord motors show why. In their respective classes, the V6 and I4 are both rockets.

No data on sport trim, but got the following data for EX-L CVT and EX CVT.
Motortrend:
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/coupes/1209_2013_honda_accord_first_test/viewall.html?ti=v2
0-60mph: 7.6s
1/4 mile: 15.9@90.2mph
Insideline:
http://www.insideline.com/honda/accord/2013/2013-honda-accord-ex-full-test.html
0-60mph: 7.8s
0-60mph (with 1ft roll out like most other mags): 7.5s
1/4 mile: 15.8@91.2mph
The Sport will probably be just as fast (more power, heavier rims, more off the line grip).

Just for fun and it's probably irrelevant....but it's interesting to note that the I4 Accord CVT is noticeably faster than all V6 mid-size sedans from 10 years ago but the Altima (very close)!

Did C&D report any torque steer on the I4? I noticed that in previous 6mt Accord coupes, there was alot of torque steer. On the Civic SI's I didn't notice it or it was very minor. I had hoped that the I4 with the 6MT would be closer in handling characteristics to the SI.

Cars tend to get compared to one another in the vacuum of the model year or one year back. If you take a second to compare the same models to 10 years ago, even the models we love to hate from today are light years better than 10 years ago (most of the Hyundai/Kia line).
Regarding the acceleration of the Accord Sport, I myself I have to marvel at what we can do with a NA I4 in 2013 that we couldn't even do with a V6 in 2002. I used to think that if I could get a 2000 Accord V6 with a 6-speed that would be the car to end all cars. Looking back from now to then, I'll bet this Accord Sport would easily kept up with a 2000 Accord V6 even if it did have a manual....to say nothing of the fuel economy.
I am more impressed with where the 4-cylinder has come in 10 years than I am with any gains hybrids have made.

Yea, I was mostly talking about how performance has improved over the last decade or so.
I think you are right in theory. In the past, Honda's 6MT is often about 0.4s faster than 5AT (for the same model) in terms of 1/4 mile and 0-60mph. Replacing the 4at with a 6MT in an 02 accord v6 would probably shave 0.6s off. That's on par with the new Accord I4 6MT.
For hybrids, I think the gains are not so much about improvements in mpg (still good IMO), but more about how auto makers can make money off them instead of losing money, especially Toyota.

..........a cold day in Hell (when a 4-cylindro can show better numbers than my 6M).....I'd actually like to see Honda's gifted engineers accomplish this (I like good MPG too!)
Biut I'd not hold my breath......................

An entirely different world.
Most folks end up buying the TL 5AT. And with the Tech package you're insulated from the world and gas stations....
