Odd to see IL now refer to the Accord as soulless, especially how they loved it so earlier...
Anywho, it sounds like this car will be really good.

I think they meant the engine sound of the I4 CVT. The CVT pretty much keeps the rpm pretty stable and the engine sound isn't really that sporty....hence IL thinks it's soulless?

Desparation time for Mazda.
Interesting to see a production trim (ahem) '14 available to road test. That they've even labeled it a '14 is a joke. The reality is they are late to market with their offering and want to slow consideration of the formidable offerings from their competitors. A rather GM move, to be sure.
Reminds me of when GM rushed their trucks to market early in it's last iteration just to avoid overlap with their competitors. GM also did this with their '13 Malibu - rushing out the ECO model 6 months ago so it wouldn't get lost in the Accord/Fusion release.

Biggest load of BS I have read to date. Mazda didn't "rush" this to production. What evidence do you have to back up your claim? The year prefix means nothing. The Mazda6 is a 2013 in other markets but a 2014 here State side because it goes on sale in late February, early March 2013.
The 2013 Malibu is a failure because it is a terrible car. It gets sub par economy and poor build quality. Every single review of the Mazda6 so far is nothing short of outstanding.

Yeah I think it's a pretty poor way to handle it, myself. Reading these reviews of the Euro versions will build people up too much for it. They brag about the sub-3000lbs and all the powertrains and options, when very little of it will be true for the U.S. market. Consumers - (or rather, people on the internet) - tend to be critical of available vehicles while elevating cars that are in the pipeline. But this Mazda will feel plenty of heat of its own once it's finally available.
Lost in the Euro to U.S. translation:
- No diesel, perhaps later
- No wagon
- No i-ELOOP ("later" in the first model year)
- No start/stop
- Certainly not sub-3000lbs, likely hundreds more
- No manual??
Motor Trend says: "U.S. buyers won't have to spend a lot of time deciding which Mazda6 they want when the car goes on sale in January. The sedan with the top-of-the-range 189-hp, 2.5-liter direct-injection Skyactiv-G engine mated to the six-speed automatic transmission is, for now, the only model headed stateside."
But I guess it's enough positive press to rain on the parades of the brand new competitors, which was the point...
"If you desire even a modicum of driving enjoyment from your midsize sedan, this transmission alone is a major reason to buy the Mazda6 over a new Honda Accord or Nissan Altima and their soggy CVTs."
Ouch.

very sad, no manual, and no high mileage smaller four, and no wagon and no deisal, and no stop start, and no capacitors.
those were all the thing I was excited about besides the better styling.

Now that's a trunk, well finished and isolated, larger pass through opening and split rear seat, (hello accord).
This and the manual accord would make a great comparo, looks very nice inside and out, but simple dash, not many gadgets, which could be a good thing or bad.
I was really wanting to see the high mileage 40 MPG 3000 pound, double capacitors, stop start version, to see if that was possible in a car this size 40MPG good acceleration and room and handling, everyone would have stood up and taken notice if that were true.
guess we will never find out in America.

Yeah, like when the 09 Camry came out in March of 08? Lots of companys do this...and there are cases of ones releasing 'late' like Feb or March and calling it the same year, for example when Toyota did this with the Tundra in 07..... I'm sure there is a reason for it, but I don't think it's rushing like your making it out to be... I will give you the Malibu Eco though since GM said that.

I couldn't like with that interior, no matter how nicely it drives.

Save the negative comments on all this car doesn't have. The Mazda product planner are not going to give away full US specs yet...they'll save some surprises for the US autoshows and launch. I'd expect the hi-power diesel will be the surprise, but am not optimistic about a MT option with the NA 4-cyl unless sales of the 6 are really high.

How dumb the tester are?...they directly comparing a car from European Domestic Model, that using the European high grade fuel ..the higher compression engine would absolute benefit from the European high grade fuel (lower sulphur, since European fuel is unripe from the bottom of the sea, comparing to US higher sulphur fuel which they are dig from the desert)
let's wait what IL said once they testing the USDM

I wonder if Mazda can get the 6 sales below 68% to fleet. I can't think of a higher percent car.
