Does anyone know if the radar used for Collision-Mitigation/Forward Collision Warning/Adapative Cruise Control in Acura vehicleswill cause false alarms on a Valentine One radar detector?
I'm going to be in the market for a new Accord Touring shortly, and am interested in knowing whether that stuff causes any problems. (I've Googled "acura adaptive cruise control valentine one" 60 ways to Sunday, and all that seems to come up is that the blind-sport warning on the TLs is problematic, but I could swear on a stack of Bibles I've heard other stories! That's why I pose the question here!)
I'm assuming that the FCW/ACC radar unit on the Accord Touring is similar to that found on the Acura RL, MDX and ZDX.
I would go and test a Touring, sneaking the V1 along with me, but the nearest Tourings to me are an hour away; as I've stated in the Accord forums, the Northern Ohio dealers have none!
(And no "don't speed" replies, please. I usually go with traffic, not more than 10 or so over. But forewarned is forearmed.)

The first Accord Touring in Northwest Ohio appeared at Gene Stevens Honda in Findlay, OH a week or so ago--Modern Steel Metallic. (Have got a dealer order going through my broker for the exact car--only reason I didn't tell him to cancel the order and get a dealer swap through this dealer (like my current 2006 Accord, which came from Stevens via a swap) is that this car's VIN is around 1200 or so--I didn't want the first Accord off the line, since I know that there's been a couple bugs--stereo and wind noise, for which Honda may have made running corrections.)
Anyhow, after checking with the dealer, I made the drive down to Findlay to determine whether the V1 (a year-2000 model, S/W revision 2.981, IIRC) will play nice with the ACC/FCW radar.
Bottom line: YESSSSSSS!!! You can stop here if you don't want to see my full write-up--they sometimes approximate War And Peace in length! :-)
After explaning things again, and getting the Touring's fob from Stevens' internet salesguy, I did a little recon work in my car, with the V1 set to "All-Bogeys" mode, which means that all filters are off, and any signals would be reported. I then noted where the detector went off along a route of about two miles, which took me into a reasonably well-to-do neighborhood with nice long straight stretches. (Commercial burglar alarms and automatic doors will transmit "K"-band signals which appear as law-enforcement radar to a detector, so I wanted a good residential area with those interferences.)
Armed with this knowledge, I got in the Touring, with the V1 sitting on the seat next to me. (I promised the Gene Stevens folks I wouldn't mount the V1, but simply hold on to it as needed.) Yep, using the scientific method to road test cars--I know, I know, I need a fvcking life!! :-p
Starting the car, I was a little concerned--I was getting "K" hits, and 1 or 2 on the bogey-counter! Oh snap!! Not looking good so far! Oh well, I just drove 40 miles (from around the Toledo area) to check this out, might as well do it. (Only later did I realize that adjacent to the car lot was a Lowes with automatic doors! Also, if there would have been a real problem, the range indicator would have indicated a minimum distance, which did not happen.)
Drove the Touring down into the same residential area as I had just gone with my car, and whaddya know! Holding the detector up to the windshield and passenger visor, not a peep!!
Got to the end of one of the streets which dumped out onto a secondary roadway, and realized I was off the "Google Maps" printout I had brought along for the occasion, so after doing a "Find Nearest Honda Dealer" into the NAVI, I was pointed in the right direction! And again, even while pacing slower traffic, and even during a gentle braking event as the traffic in front of me slowed, the V1 was as silent as a church, until I got back up around the dealer itself on Bright Road, where there's a little more stuff (the Lowes I mentioned, a Fairfield Inn, couple of gas stations, you get the idea). (Only thing is, the NAVI prompt voice is defaulted loud enough to wake the dead!! First thing I change on my Touring, after I kill the auto-locks! :-P)
So again, those of you with V1s (and probably Escorts too), you should be OK with the ACC/FCW not interfering with your detector!!! :-D

Great to know! I've been pondering whether such systems would be compatible. It drives me nuts when my V1 laser warning goes off in heavy traffic and it's almost always an Infiniti ACC system that I'll spot in one of my mirrors or in the opposite lane.
V1... great for detecting the speed traps and Inifinitis of America!
