The 2013 Accord just came out so I don't expect any bargains yet. Web sites like TrueCar and CarWoo don't have the 2013 yet. However Edmunds states the "True Market Value" is around $600 below MSRP (Depending on the trim). This is about $1,800 over factory invoice. I cannot find hold back information yet.

I am wondering the following:

1. About when will the Accord be easyer to get a lower price? I'm thinking late Oct to November.
2. Any comments what will be a fair price at that time and maybe even later like in Jan or Feb?
3. Anybody knows what the hold back is?
4. If you already got one, please share how much over/under factory invoice or MSRP you paid? I looked at the forum's policies / guidelines, this info appears to be ok to post.

Additional comments/questions are welcome. But please keep it relitive to the sales price of the 2013 Accord.

Thanks

Is that with or without the $790 destination?

Are you sure about the prices?

With production ramped up, there should be good availability of Accords, and some good discounts in the not too distant future.

From Tellmenews
"A record number of 2013 Honda Accords are being manufactured by the carmaker’s American plant in Marysville, Ohio as Honda prepares for an extra-competitive midsize sedan war and the possibility of heavy demand for the vehicle.

According to Honda production leader Mike Fischer, production at the Marysville plant is at 6,000 units per week. Honda has been working at a faster pace with each passing week since production started on August 20; Fischer said that the plant is at a “benchmark pace.” "

I keep my cars between 9 and 10 years, so I'm not interested a lease.

The lease calculator is based on MSRP, where did you give the prices you stated?

What I find interesting is that the EX is being discounted more than the Sport. The Sports is discounted the least.

Salesmen on this board have stated the number one trim is LX followed by EX-L. I think the Sport trim may become the 2nd most sold trim of the Accord lline.

Yes from Weymouth Honda. I found 3 dealers in the Boston area which gave very competitive internet quotes. Cambridge Honda and Honda Cars of Boston are the other two. Weymouth had the cheapest but the other two were also competitive. Their may be more, I stated shopping on 9/24, a week ago.

One of the things I like about Weymouth is they read and answer my emails. Some other dealers sent back stranded replies (most likely computer generated).

Some dealers gave a few hundred dollars off and promoted how great there dealership is. Two used the fact they give you a full tank of gas which makes their dealership better. Honda requires a full tank of gas.

Some were around MSRP or around $800 off and said they will mach other dealers or said they have a "Price Guaranty". That means to me that they will charge as much as they can unless you catch them. I did not play that game. Weymouth gave me a good price, why should a different dealer get my business when they tried to overcharge me.

I guess I don't get it... the dealer's price is invoice minus the 2% holdback plus interest payments on holding the car in inventory.

So, in your case, the dealer's cost is $28,923 - 578.46 = 28344.

OTOH, you paid, $27,674, which is $670 below dealer's cost.

Since I doubt that a dealer would lose money only to make it up in volume, this indicates that AHM is also putting some incentives on the dealers to move the cars.

-OR- you financed it through American Honda Finance or some dealer provided means??? In which case they can afford it as their cost of money is nil and even a 3% deal to you is money in the bank for AHF/dealer.

If this is an incentive, then it's good for volume, not all that great for future resale.

(Great for me, though, since we buy our cars used, at low miles with just one or two years old).

I paid cash and no trade-in. So Yes, Honda is doing something.
They offer me Honda's Extended Warrantee but I do not have to decide until I pick up the car. (about 2 weeks)

The extended Warrantee is for total 80k miles of 7 years. They said MSRP is $2,330 but they will take $1000 off. This will be my fifth Accord since my first one in 1977. I own my Accords over 7 years each. The only thing I ever needed for repair were breaks, tires, mufflers which are not covered.

I'm a little concern about the new CVT and think of starting a new thread about Honda's extended Warrantee. Most likely I will not get it.

Sounds Great! So far in my area So. Cal I have seen about $1000-1100 off sticker on a few dlr websites. I'm hoping to get a Sport model in the same price range you mentioned about 22k plus fees at time of purchase. I for now am waiting for the local inventory to swell to see all colors in stock and for the 6sp manuals to arrive/drive. Then I will be able to make a informed decision. So far after the few drives I've taken the Sport model is my 1st choice w/EX as my 2nd.

Thanks, I think your car market should not slow down because of winter weather like here in Boston. But it should slow down around the holidays because many people are too busy to car shop.

It may have just been the dealers, but I found dealers which had the 4Cyl EX-L w/Nav in stock were less willing to have a good price as opposed to the ones which had it in their allotment but not yet at their dealership. This may change as the over 6000/week Accords Honda is building swell the marked and the early adopters frenzy is over. But who knows. :)

It makes sense. If the car is on a dealer's lot then there are costs to carry it. But if the car is not yet delivered then selling it incurs no carrying costs.

Think about it... The Costco business plan: Most vendors have a 30 day due payment set up. So, if Costco turns the product around fast before the payment is due then there are NO carrying costs and the vendors are actually financing Costco.

Sweet.

That's why the dealers are happy to sell you car than has been allotted but not yet paid for. Not quite as good as Costco -because AHM will not finance its dealers- but quite good nonetheless

It sounds like AHM is putting 1000 bucks on each car.

All I can say is that AHM is keen on getting these cars out the door. The Associate Lease Plan has some awesome prices on ALL Accords.

I think I got a very fair deal for my area at the time.

The other 6 dealerships I contacted were sticking at MSRP or came down $300-$500 if I pushed it.

One dealership would match the $26,599 offer if I had it in writing (I did), but I like to give my business to the dealership that offers the lowest price first and doesn't make me do all the work of find a lower offer somewhere else just so they can swoop in and steal my sale from the first dealership.
