It's interesting to recall that the first Honda 2.5 V6 in the 1986 Acura Legend sedan produced only 151 hp and 154 lb-ft of torque, less than many 4 cylinder engines today. I had an '87 Legend 5 MT and thought the performance was pretty good, except for weak torque at the low end. How times have changed.

Good observation, and that is why I quit buying 6 cylinder sedans. You get enough power in a 4 cylinder. I had a 2004 Acura tsx, and I was amazed a 4 cylinder could generate 200 hp. Now, not only can these smaller engines produce the HP, but they are 35% more efficient. V6s now have the power of the old 300hp v8s, but I'm happy with these smaller engines.

I agree as a lot of the 4's available today are quite spunky however Honda has spoiled me with the J Series and the deep reserves these V6's are able to deliver. Nothing like doing 75 to 80 on the highway and applying a substantial throttle input and the sling shot feeling into triple digits. So effortless! I could only imagine what those big German sedans with their twin turbo V8's can do!

+1.
When I was in high school, the unwritten maxim was "Can't have both performance and economy".................
The J30 in my 6M obviates that old maxim (IMHO)

Yes, but what worries me is having to change direction at those higher speeds. I've driven several cars on long test drives. The Accord drives really nicely but they aren't BMWs so be careful at those tripple digit speeds.

I feel the opposite. I had a '90 Legend Coupe with the 2.7L 160hp V6 and loved it. It got totalled (which really sucked, BTW), and I swapped "up" to a '96 Accord EX with the 2.2L I4. The rest of the car was beauty but the engine left me unhappy. Was compelled to sell it off a year later (to my sister) & get a new '98 Accord EX V6.
It's not a power thing; I just like the smoothness the 2 additional cylinders bring. You can tell the purr of a Honda 4 cylinder engine a mile away and while I appreciate it (my family owns 3 of them), it's just not for me. Must. Have. 6. Cylinders.
Which is why my local dealer doesn't know it yet but they're about to sell me a '13 EX V6 Accord Coupe. (But only once the 6MT's arrive.)

.....after online perusal (TOV, DA, V6P et al), I am looking forward to more 2012 Accord V-6 6M coupe dealer presence.
(Some would say people in Hell want ice water too)
Dealer(s) - there are seven(7) with 1/2 hour of California's capitol (yeah, the dome) - aren't really overflowing with these fast, reliable and fuel efficient coupes.......................
