The glitter plastic might not look good to us TOV's...but somewhere, somebody is saying..hey, I like that texture and look of the plastic...Like women and cars.."beauty is in the eye of the beholder"
I agree...if this is all we have to complain about... I am going to the dealership next week, get a butt feel, and a brochure...lol
I want to see the Touring model...

They should be designing for the masses, not for a fringe of people with odd taste. The best can be said about it is that it is only in some small (although in your face) areas rather than all over the car. If you want to sell your house you have tan a beige carpet and walls, not purple and orange.
This is not a debate on whether a few pieces of ugly plastic is a big enough deal to not buy the car over. It was only a question on whether people think Honda might get rid of it in a year rather than waiting for a full MMC.
I have seen Honda make minor changes in year 2 before. I think a few generations ago, Honda changed the cloth fabric on the seats of the Accord LX the second year of production. I think year one had vertical pleats and year 2 had some other type of design.
Replacing the seat fabric was a bigger change than swapping out a couple pieces of plastic trim. So, I don't think undoing this glitter plastic is beyond the realm of possibility for 2014.
Also, nobody said this is the only or biggest issue of the car. People are complaining about not having spit fold seats and plenty of other issues.
The glitter plastic is just one of the easy to see issues based on photos, videos and written reviews. When people drive the cars and own them, I'm sure they will find many bigger issues to complain about.

Well, I am sure we will find other issues about the new model. I have a '03 EXLV6 Sedan, they added XM radio in '04 changed the rear lights in '05 The MMC year of '06 they changed the rear lights again, and made changes to the V6 engine.
As far as the 8th Gen, I am not sure they did anything major, except the MMC year of '11, and that was not much. I am sure there were more changes, but just an example of fixing things on model year changes.
As far as the split rear seat, over 10 years, I put the rear seat down a couple of times. If I need to haul something bigger, I have a friend who has a Durango, or I have it delivered.

Click on the pic of the white Accord EXL with Navi, it really doesn't look bad. And there is more than just a one volume knob on the left, there is another knob to the right of the display.

Anyone catch this user comment from that above link, I noticed it since it is so full of bullshit it is insane, how far do people have to go to make a product look bad, just make shit up?
"bought it brand new tuesday, had it in the shop by friday cause it blew a head gasket.. useless honda"

A hottie wit a body doesn't sound like a guy to me. Do we have any pictures?

Note the little cubby below the A/C controls in the first pic--this one's not equipped with NAVI.
The "Passenger Airbag -- OFF" light is up at the right side of the display. The NAVI displays are slightly larger, and presumably, the NAVI control dial takes care of the functionality of the right-hand knob.
Airbag lite on NAVIs (bottom pic) goes on the other side, and makes it look a little awkward.

^ Then whats the point of having 2 screens and no NAV?

Maybe so they can update the Aha interface that comes on the EXs and above. The lower screen always controls the radio.

This is truly a nit-pick list for the high-end models.
LED headlights have an old fashioned orange bulb right next to them. This turn/parking light needs to go LED as well.
No mention of "Memory-Linked Side Mirrors with Reverse Gear Tilt-Down" as Crosstour has.
Steering wheel should be power tilt w/memory.
Rear seat heaters anyone?
How about cooled front seats?
8 speed auto or CVT for V6.

Be interesting to see what happens with the linked mirrors in the future, as they AREN'T on the Touring, "Accord"-ing to the O/M. (Perhaps the main reason for this, seeing curbs, may be handled just as well with the camera.)
I can see the sales of the Acura TL TANKING--this Touring is a screaming deal! 8-) (Only thing it's got is a pass-through and 6-speed stick--and a glovebox light! ;-) ) Can't even get ACC unless you opt for the RL or the CrossTurd's rich uncle, the ZDX!

Probably because there is another Honda company called Acura, that should have most of what you described.

This is truly a great car if we now have only to complain about "glitter plastic". Great job Honda. The Accord will be my next car!

I got an EX-L a couple of days ago. The "glitter plastic" wasn't very obvious, but then I remembered to check it out. The "glitter" is very subtle... a far cry from the glitter you'd find on a kid's princess costume for Halloween. To be completely honest, I'd prefer plain piano black, but it wasn't even close to being a deal breaker for me. After 2 days, I don't even notice it anymore. Overall, I'm very pleased with the design and quality of the dashboard and interior.
