Would like to have opinions on which car to get… my all time favorite car is the jdm 8th gen civic type r sedan…man what a car!! 220 hps, Recaro seats, brembo brakes, fantastic suspension and interior…. all for 25k, i would buy it in an instant…now back to reality...seems like the civic si would be more fun to drive…but the accord lx 6 speed seems like a better value…I had an 4 cyl 97 accord lx 5 speed manual and remembered it as a dog…made a bunch of suspension mods and got nice wheels and summer tires…handled well but it was slow…could of used another 50 hps…had the car for over 7 years so I remember the feeling of a lack of power well…I really like to power to weight ratio of civic si (14.5 lbs/hps…versus 22 lbs/hps for 97 accord and 17.2 lbs/hps in 2013 accord), not to mention the limited slip diff…the nicer stereo in the civic is important to me as well…I remember upgrading the system to get some extra punch…im gonna test both…and wait to see the upgrades Honda has in store for the 2013 civics…cheap looking interior of current model really turns me off….thinking im gonna probably lean towards the accord, since im heading into my 40’s now…accord seems safer too…either way I’m gonna swap out the sway bars and springs…can’t believe after all these years...bought the 97 accord new when I got my first job out of college, that if I want a nice handling sedan I still have to “roll my own”…else end up having to pay over 30k…now 40k for a fun 4 door sedan….

Both cars would be nice. I would wait for the 2013 MMC Civic Si, rather than the 2012.

Really depends upon intended use, although I'd definitely spring for the Accord Sport for about the same money if you wanted an accord.
Is it going to see track use? Civic
Are you planning on modding? Civic (even though this is the least mod friendly SI in ages)
Daily commuter? Accord
People hauler/Business car? Accord
I think the Accord is better looking, more comfortable, more spacious, and will probably be a wash in fuel economy in the real world.
The Civic is more exciting, a little quicker and a better canvas for personalization.

If you don't really need space or fuel economy of the Accord, wait for the 2013 Civic Si to be released.

Styling wise, I cannot handle the 9th gen civic sedan, not just the a and c pillar cheat pieces, but the winshield trim, Camry tailights, grill, everything just screams cheap to me.
And on the interior aside from the iMid display from the headliner, to the carpet, to the radio buttons, seat fabric, hard plastic everywhere and deletion of covered cupholder screams the cheapest again.
Having said that the Si will cut a full second to a second in a hald off just the o-60 time, that is huge, braking will also be better, handling much better with the LSD, and is lighter and easy to toss around, I am guessing the shift throws will be quicker, radio with sub better, sunroof,, 17" alloy standard and seats that hold you in better, a much more fun car to drive while stile smooth riding.
The accord would be quieter, smoother, better MPG's, better visibility, more room compromised by a small fold down opening(the civic would be better at carrying long cargo).
Also the accord looks better inside and out has many more conveinant features and should do much better in a crash.
I think the accord sport 6sp would be a better comparison to the Civic Si.

I am also making the same decision, but between a 2013 Si and 2013 Accord EX. The Accord is more expensive, but has more features and is larger. The Accord also gets better gas mileage while taking regular fuel and would be cheaper to insure. The Civic is the right size for me and would be the sportier and more exclusive of the two. I drive a lot on the highway, so the blind spot and lane watch are attractive. Either way, it's a good choice.

Again, I don't think it's fair to compare a 2013 Earth Dream to a 2012. We'll have to wait to see the 2013 Civic MMC to accurately compare the two! :)

They are very different cars. I am very happy with my Si and the only advice I can give you is if you want driving excitement, get the Si. The accord is significantly heavier and i personally cant stand it. Feels like driving a boat compared with the civic.

I think he is considering the new Accord, which is much improved and also now has a sport version available. And of course, the 2013 MMC on the Si is worth waiting for, too.

yea you're right im thinking the old accord. i actually really like this new one. very good looking car, both sedan and coupe. looks like it rides a helluva lot better than the old one too.

Even though the new Si has had much of its edge taken off from the previous model, that change makes it a better proposition to a buyer contemplating a 6MT Accord.
Unfortunately the market doesn't like sweet spots; it they want to pull you towards the extremes.
