I've had my 2013 RDX for 4 months now. I wanted to get the remote start option, but the dealer said it wasn't available for the new RDX back in April.
So now if I was to purchase the remote start kit from acura, they'll charge me over $900! and I have to carry 2 key fobs. Even the chevy cruze has a remote start botton on its original key fob.
I need a new commuter car for the fall...2013 Civic or Accord (if the mpgs are good enough). I hope the Accord comes with remote start as a standard option. The 2013 altima has it on the 2.5 SV.
I've read the threads about 2013 accord trim options, there's no mention of remote start on the trims. Does anyone know anything?

Warming car up is illegal many places, even fined. And warming it up goes faster if you drive instead of sitting idle.
Now lets see, if you remote start it can anybody then enter the car and take off while it sits there idling or will the doors still be locked till you actually gets there. If doors are locked can you break in and steal the car or is there a system that prevents that?

With our newborn, I found myself thinking I should've turned on the car and AC to cool down in the hot summer heat. We've all been in hot cars during the summer and cold in the winter...depending on where you live.
I just want to make the temperature a little more comfortable for my newborn daughter before getting her in the car.
I know it effects MPG a little...but worth the tradeoff for your kid IMO

What many places? I know in garages it could be hazardous due to CO build up but on streets......? really?
And yes, there is a system that prevent stealing. Without key in the car, the engine will automatically shuts off as you touch the brake or accelerator.
btw, I use remote starter to heat the seats and set temp. ;)

Different countries have different rules. In Europe as well in USA you can be fined for leaving a car idling, I think limit in N.Y. is one minute. Problem is worst in big cities and in winter.
One country in Europe fines the owner about $1000 for idling, even if you leave the car idling while a passenger gets out to get some snacks. You will also be reported to police.

Thanks for the head's up, this is definitely something we want if we get the RDX. I still don't see it on Acura's website as an "Accessory", so is the one your dealer offering an Acura or aftermarket?
Seems kind of dumb not to offer one, since it's offered on the MDX and other Honda/Acura models.

I don't know if Acura's implementation of remote start would please some of you. From my understanding, the aftermarket does a better job. With Acura's, you have a second fob. It's not small, either. The vehicle has to be locked to remote start it, and the engine has to be shut off in order to unlock the vehicle when you're ready to get in. So, you have to restart the vehicle once you're inside.

Is it really that cold in your car? All the cars I've been in during the winter in below 0 degree temperatures (both C and F) are cold, but it's not too bad. Within a few minutes the car will warm up and be nice and toasty. I hate this one neighbor I have; he used to leave his old Subaru Outback on for like 20 minutes in the garage! What a waste!

No mention of remote start by honda in the 2013 accord release today.
I saw a video on youtube of a salesman showing the car. He showed the new keyfob and there wasn't a remote start button. Perhaps it'll be an option.

I agree 100%. the honda remote start is a POS. My F150's is like a device from the future in comparison.
