Ok, so we are one day away from getting a bunch of official pictures... And trim info? What about pricing.
I have to say that I am exited, but somewhat sad as this will be the close of the season for me (and a bunch of us?) of hungrily searching the net for any piece of information about the 9th gen... OK, maybe not all over the net, since TOV is so good to get the info, that it basically becomes a one stop shopping.
So, once all the info is out.... what is left?
- Test driving the car...
- Waiting as long as I can before I pull the trigger, that should allow Honda to take care of all the new generationg "bugs".
- Then look up all the informaiton about the Civic's MMC refresh (although I won't be getting one, the Civic being the first car I ever bought will always have a special place for me...)
- Finally wait a little bit longer until we start getting any new info about the TLX....
Bitter sweet or not, I can't wait until tomorrow!

I was asked about my opinion of the New Accord and honestly, while I think it looks pretty darn good, I've become a bit "Accorded-out" over my interest in the new design. I think after all of my renderings, spy pics, and hyper-scrutiny, my emotions have run high and low to the point where I've "detached" from the buzz of the 5th.
And having seen the press images prior to just about everyone else, I longer find myself sharing in the excitement of the "big reveal." I think that's a big reason I shifted interest to the RLX concept and created the "LEGEND" rendering - to keep my self-made excitement in at least something alive.
Since I'm often involved in design rescue missions, I'm personally much more interested in the Civic re-work. And I'm very interested in Honda's answer to this "crisis."

Neal, is it just going to be images tomorrow; trims, MSRPs, etc.; or full reveal, including removal of press embargo?

Exactly, in many ways the release of the press images is marks the end of the road of this guessing game, and also indicates that it's time to move forward.
In my case, since I am pretty set on getting one, part of the exitement will live until the day of purchase, but then I will be left wondering what is next.
Luckily we have the Civic, RLX, TLX to look forward to and keep the thirst for novelties quenched.
Still I dread that vaccum feeling that I know will be there once the novelty wears off... I don't remember Honda being soooo secretive before, so the adrenaline build up was higher this time... But OTOH who knows, maybe I will be saying the same just before the Civic Images come out, just before the RLX images come out, just before ... you get where this is going.
So, all this to say: Thanks Neal for your "LEGEND" rendering as it provides continuity and allows me to have something else to be looking forward too.

Is not the next big thing to actually be driving the new model? Pictures and specs can only do so much, what counts in real life is how it actually performs and drives. How expectations in NVH, drivability, handling and performance is met as well as how the functions of interior features are laid out and work. That is going to be the test for the new Accord and any new car model. Exterior design is very subjective, it may or may not attract buyers, if it attracts buyers and all the other elements fall in place and it is the right price you have a sale. The day to day satisfaction of owning and driving the vehicle and with high quality and maintenance cost down is what is going to keep you brand loyal and bring in new customers. And of course in this day and age with high fuel cost you also have to be ahead in fuel efficiency.

The Accord coupe concept ruined it for me right off the bat. Besides that, the super secrecy this time around didn't keep my interest alive enough for me to care.
I was most excited to see the 8th Gen Si when it was about to be revealed, and I'd rank that a 10/10 on the excitement scale. This reveal? Maybe 2/10.

I guess many a Hollywood marriage was 10/10 on the excitement scale, however it does not take long before another 10/10 shows up and ships are jumped. The lasting value is deeper than the skin. Exterior attracts you, however it is what is inside that lasts for the long haul. Sometimes you can find both in the same package though.

I did mention the test drive on my previous post... and you are right, this is really what will mark whether the car (any car) is worth it or not.
But I don't measure the exitement in the same level. I will schedule the test drive once the car is available and after having diggested all the trim level and pricing info.
But the build up from the first Concept car presentation all the way to the press release really consumes a lot of attention, and gives me a reason to keep hitting refresh on my web browser.

I'll be able to get a life by not looking for updates every 30 minutes every waking hour of the day, on work breaks, etc.!
(It'll be even nicer when my new 2013 Accord is in the garage and I'm sitting in my recliner "inhaling" the various manuals! ;-) Well..the car payment (after a couple years without) not so much! :-( )

I'm mainly looking forward to driving it and seeing it in person. We've pretty much seen everything already and basically know what the specs will be - fuel economy numbers and pricing and final trim level specs will be interesting but those are hardly things to get super excited about. Also looking forward to reading Jeff's review as he writes good ones. I for one think the Coupe looks fantastic and will be a very desirable car so I guess I am excited to see what the Accord Coupe Sport is like.
I'm more interested than excited about the Civic - at this point in my life I will probably never buy a Civic so I'm only interested in it as a fan of Honda. You can argue it however you like but obviously Honda did something right with the current Civic (having the number one selling vehicle in such a competitive segment doesn't just happen - the Corolla not selling so well this year proves that people don't buy solely based on reputation - the Corolla has been number one in the segment the last ten years and the Civic is going to beat it this year) so if they make it more attractive on the outside, give it a better interior AND make it more fuel efficient then it will be an absolute no-brainer home run and probably dominate even more.

You were able to wait 30 minutes before checking for an update?
There were moment's that if you waited 30 minutes you would find some new pictures and 50 posts being added by then.
Seriously though, I hope that my local dealership has some 13s by 09/15. My car is scheduled for service, and I want to take advantage of the visit to try to squeeze in a test drive...

I've gone from excited to interested. As someone else said, the super secrecy for such an extended period allowed the excitement to die out. The occasional picture is just one aspect of the product and to have them strung out over a long period with no other information doesn't allow the emotion to be sustained.

Honestly most of the info has been out there for a while. There really aren't any huge surprises left, just impressions and clearer photos of undisguised vehicles. We know the powertrain info for the most part, and we've known about it for almost a year already. Other info has slowly been leaked. I'm trying to think of any of the rumors that have been posted here turned out to be incorrect. I can't think of any, really.
Tomorrow the embargo on tech details expires. Driving impressions can't go out until the 10th, for whatever reason. Tons of PR photos will be online soon.

Perhaps they're waiting to be sure the pipeline is well-stocked with cars.
(Seems the folks in the Great White North are playing fast and loose with some of the pics, anyway! ;-) )

There is no shortage of 2013 Accord pictures in the web.
So, no new pictures will excite anybody anymore.
It is really the detailed specs that most of us should be looking for including the most awaited EPA numbers and more importantly the test drives / road tests reviews and how the all new transmission and engine feels on the road.

At this point I guess I just want to know exactly what each trim will offer and the pricing.
I keep playing with the idea of the PI, but I don't think that is going to happen.
So I am really split bewteen EX-L V6-NAVI and Touring. It will all depend on the price on each and whether the extras (aside of the LED headlights) jusify the price premium between both cars.

I am excited to be able to drive it. I am clinging to the last little bit of hope that Honda managed to preserve the previous attributes of the DWB without losing the ride or handling qualities. I will be sorely disappointed if this car doesn't manage a better ride/handling tradeoff than the 8th gen, which feels pretty soft and disconnected by Accord standards.
However, the styling is a smash, the features look good, and if it manages to not totally suck from the helm, then it is definitely still in the hunt.
I am disappointed by Honda's retreat from their own values, and I have passed on one car this year because of it. Hopefully, we don't have to pass on two, or get a 2012 on closeout.
P.S. I will state for the record that passing on the 2012 Si sedan was TOTALLY the right choice.

Yes, I suppose a lot of it has, even though some is still 'unconfirmed'. I guess what I didn't convey is whatever is out there has been out long enough that the wait for more information like tech. details and driving impressions has seemed long.

WEEEELLL....
The Accord Coupe V6 MT6 won't have VCM....
ahem...
Now, if I can defeat that lane departure gizmo. ;-D
Honestly, I think we're coming out of the dark ages.... but I'm afraid that the EPA may still kill stuff like the J37.

the lane departure gizmo can be switched off.
and I guess you haven't been paying attention today. There's no longer a penalty for VCM. None. Nil. Zilch. The new Earth Dreams V6 has VCM AND proper VTEC. So, theoretically there should now be no difference in the torque curves (unless of course Honda tunes some other stuff differently). Mechanically, there is no longer any disadvantage to the VCM-equipped Earth Dream V6s.

Technically this is not the ED V6 that will debut in the RLX with DI. This VCM seems to be similar to the RDX and after one test drive there I can tell you the RDX moves.
