What happened to the 5series sale, no loaners to sell this month?

For being brand new, the sales of the new 3-series looks very disappointing. They even came out with new lease deals as well. Fire sales of last years models and the new higher prices for this model, probably are not helping comparisons.

The first thing that caught my attention is 5-series sales.
Lower than GS??
It almost looked like 5-series stopped production.
Not sure if there is a supply shortage of if this is a permanent trend given that the new 5-series lack the sporty feel of the old one, which I'm not sure, how many in that segment will or have dis-liked.

My local BMW dealer has been running ads for brand new 2011 535s and 328s at substantial discounts (but still plenty of cash). That can't do much for 2012 sales.

Didn't the TL at one time used to outsell the ES?

BMW's actions last month put an awful lot of vehicles on the lots as dealer rentals.
Reality is BMW buyers are not back. But where are the buyers going?

Who knows it they throw enough (by which I mean A LOT) cash into a 328 with premium, tech and lights package with heated seats they might convince me to look their way ;)

In BMW's defense, their German plants are pretty much shut down for the month of August, new options/updates were announced for the 3 Series, and the M-Sport and AWD models just began production in July, I believe. X3, produced in SC, posted a ~19% gain.
That said, their alleged cooking of the numbers last month was a disgrace, if true, and the 3 Series pricing is just getting ridiculous at almost $50k for a loaded 328.
At least Acura can make some good SUV's. Look forward to picking up an RDX at some point for the better half.

its a shame because i think the new 3 series is an extremely good looking car. pricing is just through the roof though.

AutoNews
TrueCar.com estimates industry incentives averaged $2,457 last month, down 2 percent from July and off 6 percent from August 2011. Chrysler, GM and Nissan offered some of the biggest deals in August, while Hyundai, Toyota, and Honda were less generous with discounts, TrueCar said.
Among major automakers, Toyota, Honda and Chrysler have gained share this year while Ford, GM, and Hyundai-Kia have lost ground. Nissan's share remains flat.

Unusual for BMW, probably a supply issue. let's see what Sept. brings.

Why would anyone not group the CT and A3 together? They cost substantially more than the Verno and ILX. The IS and TSX are clearly entry level luxury cars, hell the IS F can be had with a V-8 in the IS F.
Acura themselves states the RDX is aimed at the X3 and Q5. The RX is a much larger and more upscale mid-size SUV.
The Juke is a SUV, not sure why its agains the beetle.
500 and IQ should also have the Mini Cooper
The A4 should include the A5 coupe as a total sale.
The XTS is not a mid-size luxury car and should not be in that list.
The effort is appreciated but there are some really odd/wrong positioning here.
