Just curious if they are building any more 2012 Civics. I'm toying with the idea of an Si (or even and 2.4 ILX).

However, with the possible early redo on the Civic, I wonder if I'm better off waiting.

If you can wait then wait for it. The good stuff always comes later. If you don't like the changes you can always get the old one too

In one word: No.

The production of the 2012 is going to continue up to the last week of August (At the earliest - Maybe till Mid to Late Sept. in fact), as usual.

Thanks for the responses. Good food for thought. I wonder how off the 2013s are and how much the interiors will be improved. I'd hate to get a 2012 Si only to kick myself if the 2013s are that much better.

On the other hand, the ILX (I drove a 2.4) is so much better inside. Just don't know if it's worth the difference in cost to me.

Since Acura just announced the changes for the 2013 Lineup at the beginning of this month by next month we'll know the changes that will happen with the Honda lineup. I think the 2013 Civic is supposed to go on sale around the same time as the Accord. If the changes are announced next month look for the cars to begin hitting the lots by September or October, a mere two or three months. If the changes are announced next month you'll at least get a visual idea of what will change and that should aid you in your decision making to some degree.

O/T on this board, I realize, but are you still receiving allocations of the 2012 Accords?

I would think that at some point soon they're going to have to change the lines over and start cranking the 2013s out--it's more of a radical change than the Civic, and I'd think they need more time for Q/A testing. (I'll be in the market down here in the U.S. soon after it comes out, but I really don't want job #1--or job #1001 for that matter.)

Though it seems that several Honda recent Honda launches like the CRV have gone well and have produced no major "first-year issues" (except for all-around aesthetics in the Civic, and vehicles like the CR-Z and CrossTour answering questions nobody asked), like the brake problems and parcel-shelf subwoofer rattles in 8th-Gen Accords, I've still got "first-year jitters." Hopefully, my fears will be unfounded, and Honda has in fact turned the corner after being (deservedly) taken to task over the Civic launch.

My wife and I had our first child, so I need a commuter car as she'll be driving our new RDX...having had 4 Honda/Acura vehicles, it's difficult to switch to another automaker.

Local honda dealers are selling 2012 civics below MSRP, with decent financing %. There's little details on the 2013 civic and I need to decide fast if I should get a 2012 or wait for the 2013.

I test drove a 2012, it's a good car but does seem kind of boring IMO. Having said that, you cant beat honda reliability, resale and MPGs are competitive.

Any ideas on what I should do? 2012 or wait for 2013...

$1500 off doesn't sound like that great of a deal.

Honda's throwing $500 in marketing support for every new Civic (in my area), so that's only $1K off then which isn't much for a car expected to get significant upgrades in the next MY.

I would definitely wait for the heavily refreshed 2013 Civic. It will be a much, much better car than the 2012 and I'm sure you'll be a lot happier with it regardless of trim level.

My second child is due end of this year. I need to upgrade both my cars as their getting old.
Current plan is for my wife to drive the RDX and me getting a commuter car being the Civic.

Haven't bought either one, still holding out on more info on the '13 Civic and if the '13 CRV will get any improvements at all.

There are some really good lease deals on '12 Accords. Local dealer is currently running a $119/mo lease special on the SE model. 12K mile/yr. $1495 down + tax, title & security deposit. Ends up being close to $2500 due at signing.

Basically $6400 total cost to drive a new Accord with leather for the next three years (save gas and oil). That's not bad at all.

http://media.dealerfire.com/websites/480/weeklyads/Honda-Specials---48625.pdf

The Ody EX lease deal is really good too. The price of Ody EX for the lease is $27,193 (including $199 mudflaps), or about $5500 off MSRP. This dealership consistently puts up really good deals.

It's hard for me to wait a few months for the 2013. I need a commuter car asap. I've been driving our RDX to work and my wife is at home with the baby. She needs to run errands and wants to get out of the house. I've already delayed getting this car as we were supposed to buy it before the baby was born (July).

Although I wish I could wait for the 2013 civic...time is not on my side. I was hoping Chevy would release their Cruze diesel this fall, as I've had my eye on that for a while too. Sounds like a Spring 2013 release for that car.

I may be forced into getting a 2012 civic. At least I'll save some $$ compared to a 2013.

You could get a $1000 beater to drive for 2 months. Ride the bus. Pay someone to drive you. There are many options! :) From what I've heard so far, the 2013 Civic will be a huge improvement, hopefully along the lines of the 2013 Accord.

Or look into a monthly rental...they can be had at some pretty good discounts if you shop around. I'd WAIT for the 2013, or at least wait until they release some pictures of it so you can have an idea of what it will be like. No way I'd by a 2012 right now knowing the 2013 is going to be improved.

I can't remember the last time Honda dealers accepted offers of $2000 under MSRP for the Si, and the reports of such are all over Auto Guide's 9th gen Civic forum. Oh, wait. I just remembered the last time: the underwhelming EP3 - and it was overpriced by $2000 in the first place because of the exchange rate between Britain and the US.

Totally 100% agree about waiting for the 2013. There's a part of me that regrets trading in my 2009 Civic LX sedan for a 2012 Civic EX sedan. I bought it January 21st and got a great deal ($18,338 for the car and 1.9% apr for 5 years). My 2009 LX definitely had a sportier ride quality to it with solid steering compared to the 2012. My intention is to trade it in for a 2013 sometime next year and get another LX sedan. I've never even once opened the moonroof on my EX.

I have hesitated to comment on my daughter's 2012 Civic EX-L Navi in fear of getting beat up on Temple....... I bought the car in November 2011. I have 2006 Civic Si with 17,000 miles, 2010 Accord EXL Coupe (wife's) and 2011 Odyssey Touring. We are a Honda loving family. Criticism of 2012 Civics must be because of the Si model. I was going to buy one but was not impressed. Anyway........my Daughter's 2012 Civic Coupe has been an outstanding car in every way! I am very critical of quality issues and find the interior materials and everything about the car to be very good. I look forward to see what Honda REALLY changes on the 2013.
Don't be afraid to buy a 2012, as it is a great car with typical Honda quality and will have very good resale value down the road. I paid $1,650 under invoice for the car. It is black and beautiful and quite stylish!

I love my 2012 Civic Si. The 2012's are selling really well in my area. I happen to love the interior and don't see the problem people have with it this year. Yes Honda changed the materials of the dash and yes its not soft. To that I say my Civic interior looks good, is easy to maintain and who touches their dash in any way that it matters if its "soft".

As I have mentioned elsewhere the 2013s arent due in canada at least, until january. The US could be December but I doubt sooner than that. I'd be surprised to see anything other than minor styling tweaks, improved interior materials (which really does not bother some people at all), minor suspension tuning tweaks, just to keep CR happy (100% of actual customers reporting an opinion say they prefer the 12s ride). if you get a deal on a 12 why worry - there's $2250 offered off for cash in Canada anyways, and that was on top of a typical price reduction of $1000 when they first came out.
