Why not? A full size vert would be nice.

would sell more than Insight, CRZ, ZDX....ILX? I'd rather see a CRZ convertible with the old civic si engine...and rear wheel steering.

I think it'll do well - has Honda ever done a 4-seat convertible?
How to make it handle well will be the main challenge.

No.
But then again, I think that FWD convertibles are normally a bad idea.

Not before they bring [to the US] a proper CTR hatch (with multilink rear) or sedan, a true sports car/S2000 replacement, and perhaps a coupe for Acura.

Agree with all, would clarify my coupe for Acura would be Audi A5-ish (size and style wise), would also like to see a small Acura hatch (mini cooper-ish) with solid handling, performance and style elements (mostly interior - don't cut corners on lousy gauges, insure leather seats with piping, have more customization options than normal).

Only if Steve Martin is in it, with John Candy doin' the mess-around...

I think a TL convertible would make more sense.

typer_801, you're thinking along the same lines as me: Acura should have a small premium hatch (maybe less Mini Cooper, and more A3/GTI in my mind) and a solid A5/3-series coupe competitor. They're both good segments to be in from my general observations of vehicles on the road.

This. If Honda is to make a convertible, let them make a proper roadster, not chop the top off an Accord.

Yes and no. Yes Honda should make a convertible, if it looked or was based on the accord, great! No, since the accord wasn't designed to be a convertible what we would get would be a shitty, trembly, chop job. If they can make another X chassis which happend to look like an accord and had a nice snarly, revvy v6 and handled like an s2k...... Ill trade in my s2k for it! They can even call it an acura and charge me 50K for it :) it has to kick the crap out of the base boxster though :P

No they shouldn't. I can't stand convertibles. It's the only thing I didn't like about the S2000:-)

If they could do it right, then I'm all for it.
Knowing Honda, that would entail having a folding metal roof instead of a ragtop and structural enhancements. It would be leagues over the old G6 and the Chrysler 200, but it would cost $$$.

No! The only convertibles I'd like to see are an NSX Spyder, S2000 replacement and a 3 Series/G37 Acura convertible/coupe.

I'd like to see a 'Vert in the lineup.
I'll be wanting to replace my '90 Miata one of these millenia, and the S2000 is going to be too intense. One of the charms of the Miata is that you can just cruise around in it and enjoy it without hammering on it. Granted, you can hammer on it and it's a joy then as well, but hey, not all cars can be so perfect.
I have to admit, I'd buy a Honda without a roof that wasn't a hardcore sports car. Whatever happened to the idea behind this little puppy!?
If they sprung it correctly and kept the weight down, I'd buy it.

No. However, an new S2000 would do just fine!

I'd love to see a convertible option. They have nixed all the nameplates to make a convertible. The Accord Coupe would be a great addition to the lineup.
Personally, I would also like a Targa Top. Chew on that for a few.

The rumor is that it's headed for production.

That was last year; we haven't heard anything about it since.

Yep, I guess thats why its just a rumor. It seems to be pretty small, as a neo Beat, and JDM only even if it were to make it to production, I suppose. I would think lackluster sales of the CRZ would make Honda a bit gun shy about those plans as well.
