Sorry, I didn't have time to read through the whole thread to look for my answer.

It's pretty amazing how an all-electric vehicle can have those performance capabilities and be fun to drive while capable of 118 mpg.

Can you wait for the all new Fit due in a year?

TSX Sportwagon!

It could (sort of) be your roadtrip wagon and sporty car rolled into one.

I have a Fit EV to review for a week :)

I normally drive a '09 Fit Sport manual (with navi/VSA) with an aftermarket sunroof, aftermarket HIDs and ultra-high performance 195-series tires on the stock rims.

My review will be up on Engadget sometime in the next few weeks... In the meantime and since I've been a member here for over 10 years, feel free to ask me questions!

I was on vacation.. actually DRIVING you know... even went through SF... Golden Gate, HWY 1, I280.....

What kind of range are you getting?
How does it handle?
Off the line, is it faster than the Fit MT5?
Does the AC run while you're stopped at a light?

I got an email to apply for one but I have had the time to proceed because I've been busy and I just got two new cars! ;-)

But my wife sure could use one to use the carpool lanes to go to work.

v6?
V6?
V6?

What planet are you living in... even in SF you should be on Planet Earth, huh?

It's a K24 under the hood, and a very nice one, thank you. How would you like a range of well over 500 miles per tank, getting 29mpg stomping all over the West Coast... I5, SR199 and 101?

We almost did Hwy1 by Ft. Bragg but we simply ran out of time hiking through the redwoods.

Oh, found a great road food stop in Eureka... Golden Harvest Cafe... it goes in the list for our next trip.

Also, we had some reasonable french food with very good local red wines up in Santa Rosa... La Gare.

Fine food, a fine car, my wife even found a good Grateful Dead channel on XM. What can you say? It's a better car than the Fit to go on trips.

Perhaps not Burning Man, though.. you ought to take a 72 Mercury station wagon there.

Do they have Duck a l'orange or tournados de beauf at Burning Man? See?

In fact, as I pointed out elsewhere, we made an pass through appearance on SF last week saturday.

It's actually a very nice car. And it has paddle shifters.

About your leased 09 MT Navi.... buy it. When ours came off lease the purchase price was ridiculously low so we bought it ipso facto.

LOL. What's btn your ears?

At 3.75 a gallon, the Fit EV is est. to save you about $108.33 a month.

Let's say you buy you buy a Fit Sport with Navigation for $20,000, and you buy a Fit EV for $36,000 (I realize it is lease only, but this is for simplicity's sake). With a $16,000 price difference, if you save $108.33 per month it would take 148 months to break even. In other words, more than twelve years...if you think that the Fit EV is a value proposition, you need to think again because it's not, and before you start hurling insults ad hominem, you should know what you're claiming.

CAR POOL LANE ACCESS... baby... CAR POOL LANE ACCESS

Yeah sorry... I assumed that the TSX wagon is a V6 because it's only available as an auto (since the V6 sedan is auto only)!

Since it's the K24 it's even more vexing that it's not avaiable with a 6MT. What was AHM thinking?

BTW Tony, I've done that drive and visited those places too :)

To answer your second question. If I had a garage I'd lease a Fit EV in a heartbeat (assuming any are available anymore), and rent something for occasions like Burning Man (which my gasoline Fit takes me to every year).

Since my spouse and I roadtrip regularly, I'd also probably also get something like an older diesel Mercedes wagon, older VW camper van or a newer sporty RWD car (1-series, FR-S or BRZ) for occasional long distance travel. That second car would be a manual.

I don't think I'd want a Fit hybrid unless it was a manual or was a plug-in hybrid with a pure EV range of like 10 miles or so -- and that's a big maybe. Either way I'd want to keep the Magic Seats. If you're gonna burn fossil fuels, might as well not bother with the hybrid in my book.

Still, without a garage, I'd be more likely to purchase a Fit Si manual (with more performance/comfort/convenience features) than an EV or hybrid. In fact I'd even be more interested in a small 5-door Acura hatch or a 5-door Civic hatch. It just needs to be as roomy (cargo space) as the Fit.

In fact, this is the dilemma I'm currently in. The lease on my '09 Fit Sport manual (with navi/VSA) is ending, and I can't decide if I want to keep it or get something else. I love it (especially with the aftermarket goodies) but I've never kept a car this long, and Honda has nothing for me right now (beyond another Fit).

I'm also looking for more performance/comfort/convenience -- manual is a must, so is Bluetooth for calls and audio (which I currently don't have)... Decisions, decisions, decisions. Frankly, I've been eying that new Elantra GT!

Interesting POV - the lack of garage being a MASSIVE caveat to any EV - as many people seem to prefer the hybrid compromise. Maybe the EV really suits the Fit's nature as a transport tool. Thanks for the write-ups.

BTW - the BRZ is a great idea!

True... I got there later.

Question... you have not tried to charge it on 120vac, huh? We lost our 220 in the garage when we rebuilt so we only have 120 there and it'd cost me money to run a new 220 line.... They say that it takes overnight to fully charge it?

Also, I was curious about about using an EV3000 generator. I suppose carrying one might serve to charge the car on the fly.

Does the Ikea in SF have EV chargers? The one in Costa Mesa does, so I figure if I do get the Fit EV I may have to do lunch in Ikea ofter (about 5 miles from work). Top off the battery while I eat meatballs.

I suppose that if you could craft a Honda generator on the Fit EV then you could build a nice series hybrid, huh?

Jus thinking. That might see you from SF to Portland.

Actually, as a tourer the AT makes a lot of sense... it's much smoother for the passengers. Given the small take up rate for the wagon to begin with, I figure the take up for an MT'd wagon would be like the one for the 93 Vigor MT5... meaning we had likely the only one in the West Coast!!

We'd been to the Sequioas, which are much 'thicker" trees but rather ugly -just a huge cylinder. The redwoods are very well proportioned and their locations near the ocean are outstanding.

BUT, we passed up on driving our TSX through the tree, they charge you for that. Back in Sequoia we drove our Odyssey through the tree for free (well, we did have to pay to get into the park). I got pictures of that.

It was our first time up there. I foresee that we will have to redo it several times more. For one thing is was nicely cool. I think Grants Pass was like 102 when we left the I5, but it was 57 two hours later in Crescent City.n After a week of shorts and T-shirts we had to break out the long sleeves.

Love those clouds over SF.

When we drove over the Golden Gate last saturday, the fog started on the Marin County side and we could see neither the sea nor the shores nor the top of the bridge. It was like driving in a cone of grey with lots of cars and pedestrians.

But it was NOT 100 degrees like 40 miles inland. Phew!

Nice color.. it looks lighter than the standard Fit Blue.

Im sure its great but its as interesting as the clarity since its a car that essentially no one will own, never mind drive. I think its utter BULLSHIT that Honda is not selling these, if it were, Id buy one the minute it landed on the dealer's lot. As a limited production lease car its an utter pile of shit.

I got stuck in traffic for an hour last night, which always makes me think of how much juice I would have left after commuting to work and not being able to charge while there.

There is no way in hell I would ever by an EV with a 100 mile range or less. if they could get to around 300-350, I'd be comfortable driving it at 20% of that distance.
