Hey I have a quick question for all you Honda reps.
The long story is my dealer sorta slipped in Honda Car Sentinel w/o me noticing. I leased a 2012 Civic and the finance manager said he will try to get me a better rate the next day and if so come back to sign a new contract. Well he called me back the next day and said he lowered my payment by $5/month so I was like w/e that's $200 over 3 years for swinging by the dealership, so wth.
I sign the contract w/o reading it and he calls me up when I leave because I missed him and asked did I notice the free oil changes he threw in, I said no because just signed the contract and was like oh cool, free oil changes. Then I go over my contract and see a charge for $1200 for Honda Care Sentinel...
In short, i'm about a month into my lease and according to my Sentinel contract it says within 60 days I can cancel and get my $$ back for it. Two questions I guess, 1. for $1200 this cannot possibly be worth it can it? and 2. do they just knock off $33/month for the lease or mail me a check for $1200?

We got the HondaCare on our 2000 Accord. The car had no problems during that time, so the extended warranty didn't pay off.
I did not get HondaCare with the 2006 Si, and still have not had any problems with it, after 6 1/2 years.

Yea i've never been a big fan of warranties either, for sure going to cancel this after thinking about it. $1200 for 45k miles worth of oil changes on a 36k mile lease??? wtf

They should have been upfront about that.
| You can cancel Honda Care at any time, for any reason. If you cancel within 60 days, you will receive a 100% refund. After that, refunds are prorated by the time left on the contract or the mileage used. |
I agree...cancel it.

But with a lease how does the refund work?

You are going to have to call them. My sales buddy said it is likely that was built in to the "bottom line" of the deal and you won't see a drop in lease payment once cancelled. You would probably not have to pay the last $1200 of the lease or something to that effect, but I don't have your deal in front of me.

Ok so I'm comparing the leases, this is what confuses me but I think I figured it out.
The new contract the only real difference is the Gross Cap Cost has an extra $1195 but the rent charge is down $1304.
So it looks like they did add it to my bottom line then huh. If I do the #s tho I get a money factor of 0.00077 which is super preferred?? I guess i cant complain lol.

The salesman probably gets an extra commission for selling it so he probably adjusted the price something else so the net was the same to you...
